I’m always excited to announce Petit Vour‘s Beauty Boxes, but this month is somethin’ real special. Maybe it’s the fact that there’s a full size lipstick in there…you know me, I love my lipsticks! With all of the conventional makeup on the market nowadays, full of toxic ingredients that are harmful to your skin, how do you go about choosing makeup that’s glamourous, nontoxic and safe? Do you go with a smoky eye and nude lip? An edgy cat eye with some rockin’ red lips? Decisions, decisions! Don’t worry—I’ve got you covered with this step-by-step Glowing Winter Makeup tutorial I did for Eco Diva Beauty’s Blog! This look is sure to turn heads—and yep, it’s all green and totally safe for your face and that beautiful skin of yours!
Kaia Naturals Juicy Bamboo Facial Cleansing Cloths are my newest obsession for light makeup removing, or refreshing my face! No, I’m not saying that you should only use a facial cloth to remove all of your makeup, and cleanse your face…that wouldn’t be good for your skin. However, there are times in a gal’s life when disposable wipes are needed. I.e. a hot summers day, or you’re at the gym and need to remove your makeup on-the-go. Or maybe you’re hiking, or camping (or both) and there’s not a sink in sight – the Juicy Bamboo cloths come to the rescue!
So, who is/what is Kaia Naturals you ask?
Kaia Naturals is a multi-award winning Toronto based beauty brand with a focus on providing “fast beauty” with a conscience – aka non-toxic ingredients. Their main product, these Juicy Bamboo Natural Facial Cleansing Cloths, were designed as a sustainable alternative to the usual cleansing cloth.
Some of the awards Kaia Naturals Juicy Bamboo Cleansing Cloths have won:
Made in small batches, these 100% biodegradable cloths are made of one ingredient: bamboo grass, which makes them super soft and free of any harsh dyes, fragrances and chemicals. The cloths are soaked in organic honey and vitamins B12, C, and E. They’re also 100% biodegradable and act as a cleanser, toner, and eye-makeup remover! They nourish AND re-balance your skin without stripping it bare and leaving it dry. In the past – and generally even now – facial wipes have dried out my skin, but these all-natural bamboo fiber cloths are extremely hydrating and gentle enough for even the most sensitive of skins…I mean, you can use them around your eye area! In fact, they are so gentle, they are also the official cleansing cloth approved for use in oncology esthetics training. That should say enough. :)
These cleansing cloths contain a mixture of:
Miel (honey) - non-irritating and known for its healing properties, honey is filled with antioxidants and soothes skin
Sorbitan laurate - cleansing agent
Sunflower seed oil - emollient
Hydrolyzed jojoba esters - emollient
Annnnnd they are gluten-free, cruelty-free, sulfate-free and paraben-free!
So, as you can see above, these are highly-concentrated cloths with skin-loving nutrients. They’ve got a very distinct, citrusy (and quite pleasant/soothing) scent that comes from a blend of natural essential oils such as spearmint, grapefruit, tangerine, lemon and lime. (Yum!) In addition to being eco-friendly, non-toxic, and having amazing ingredients…the packaging the cloths come in are quite unique! Unlike most cleansing cloths which come in a resealable bag (and then dry out super quick), the cloths come in a little plastic container! So, when you’re done using the cloths up you can re-use the container for storing makeup or pencils…or whatever your heart desires!
You can find them in a pack of 30 cloths for $15.50 or 20 Individually wrapped cloths for $19.50 – perfect for on-the-go! Even if you don’t need them to remove makeup, they’re a great natural hand-wipe alternative to keep in your bag, car, etc.
Kaia Naturals Juicy Bamboo Facial Cleansing Cloths are available to purchase in some select luxury spas and boutiques across the US and Canada.

Minor Alps – “I Don’t Know What To Do With My Hands”
Masques (or masks), mini facials, spa-like vibes…all my fave! Now, typically, I am SUPER picky about my masques and the ingredients they contain. If I’m gonna leave something on my skin for 15-30 minutes, it had better be darn good! So, you can imagine how happy I was when I received this lovely Monee Cosmetics Seaberry Hydration Masque, which is packed with antioxidants – blueberry, cranberry, Oregon grape, seabuckthorn, bayberry and cayenne – to help fight free radicals.
This masque is unique because it doesn’t harden, it’s quite thick and velvety – oh, and it can even be used as an exfoliant after letting it sit on your skin for 15 minutes or so (with the natural fibers that are found in it). Another great thing to note is the inclusion of glycolic acid at just 5% which gently exfoliates and reveals brighter, more radiant skin. Peptides and hyaluronic acid plump the skin and deliver moisture at a higher level – LOVE that!
I really enjoy using this mask after I cleanse my face before bed, it just feels so luxurious and hydrating on my skin – plus it smells to die for! I’ll apply a generous application, let it sit for 30 minutes (I get a slight tingly feeling – which means it’s working its magic, so don’t fret!) and then I’ll wash it off with warm water, and warm damp cloth. My skin feels amaaaaazing, and SO soft and supple afterwards. What I love most about this masque, besides its benefits and clean ingredients (made from 99% natural and 70% organic ingredients)….is its amazing scent. I honestly don’t even know how to describe it, other than intoxicatingly wonderful – so you’ll just have to get it for yourself and see (smell)!
St. South – Better Still
“To get safe products into the hands of everyone” – the motto of Beautycounter. They’ve banned more than 1,500 ingredients, setting new health and safety standards. I’m super excited to share these two products today because, well, they’re awesome…but also, I love this line of products!
Beautycounter created an everyday Essentials Face Collection to address essential skin and body care needs. This line is safe, effective, and works well for all skin types, while being free of toxins and harmful chemicals. The essential skin care line can be used by anyone – women, men, and even kid. The majority of their products use coconut oil (stay awaaaaay, if you’re allergic!) and, the even greater news? They’re all formulated without parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, PEGs, SLS or “secret” ingredients. Yay!
So, let’s jump right in!
Routine Clean Cream Cleanser – A facial cream cleanser gentle enough to be used both day and night. Organic coconut oil removes impurities and buildup. Aloe, green tea, witch hazel, and floral extracts promote the appearance of healthy, rejuvenated and toned skin. Purifying citrus oils add a refreshing scent.
How to use – Apply small amount onto face and rinse with water. Use with a warm wash cloth to remove cosmetics. I love this cleanser because it doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight or dry, whatsoever. Removing makeup was quick and easy, and it definitely made my skin look brighter and feel healthier!
Lip Conditioner Calendula Balm – A (superbly) moisturizing lip balm formulated with Avocado Oil, Shea Butter, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, and Jojoba Seed Oil, which all have intrinsically regenerative properties. The sweet smell of the balm comes from the Calendula Officinalis Flower Oil and Anthemis Nobilis Flower (Chamomile) Oil whose anti-inflammatory properties soothe irritated skin.
How to use – You can apply with fingers or lip brush. :)

If you’re in the market for a really awesome cruelty-free, gluten-free, and toxic-free neutral palette with a pop of colour (a sizzling gold/yellow shade) – this Zuzu Luxe “Peep Show” Palette by Gabriel Cosmetics is totally for you! It’s been a go-to for me lately, as I love the deeper bronzy/chocolate colours! I love a great summery palette and this one definitely achieves that sun-kissed, summer-look!
I really enjoy mixing and matching the super blendable shadows. I apply it with a dry brush for soft day time eye look, or I use a damp brush for a more bold, intense look. It’s however you wish to do it – I personally like to mix the two techniques! The whole palette contains natural ingredients including Titanium Dioxide which functions as a natural sun block. So, you’re not only making your eyes stand out, but you’re protecting them too in the process. Win/win!
The Zuzu Luxe Peep Show Palette comes with 4 different eyeshadow shades. They are:
Peep Show Shadow Colors
Amber – Sizzling Gold
Toasted – Warm Brown/shimmer
Velvet – Deep Brown/shimmer
Nude – Neutral Ivory
Peep Show Powder Color
Translucent – sheer setting powder that leaves skin with a flawless finish (this stuff does some serious mattefying of the skin too, if you have any shine!)
Peep Show Blush Color
Bitten – neutral red for perfectly flushed cheeks (almost as if someone pinched you – in a good way!)
All in all, I highly recommend picking up one of these palettes, whether it be Peep Show, or one of their other palettes – Gabriel Cosmetics will not steer you the wrong way with their high quality, beautifully blendable and pigmented eye colours, blush and powder.

I am currently LOVING this new artist, Amber Bain. She goes by The Japanese House and this 19-year-old London-based singer is blowing me out of the water with her atmospheric 80’s-esque synths and warm, dream-pop sounds. They totally wash over you and make you feel like you’re standing in the middle of an ocean as waves crash in around you. Or, at least to me it does…check it out! ;)
