Sound Blanket Radio Show

Hey guys!

I know, I know…it’s been awhile – I’ve been royally slacking. I have no excuse. Just haven’t been good about updating and posting new content. My bad, my bad. But, that cat above makes it all better right? RIGHT.

So, anyways, moving forward….remember that time I got to do a radio show for a local station here in Charlotte? Finally, it has been posted to Sound Blanket’s website’s newly updated page. I’m super stoked! It was a blast to do, and I am really thankful that SB was gracious enough to let me host my very own radio show on their site. My favourite tunes, and a bit of fun chitter chatter in between. I loved doing it, and would love to host another one again in the near future for sure!

So sit back, relax and enjoy this mellow radio talk show host voice of mine……oh, and the music, duh! ;)

Luke Hill Has A Posse – Playlist No. 39

As some of you may already know, last week, my good friend Luke Hill was hit by a truck walking home. He suffered a broken arm, ribs and bleeding in his brain. Along all of this, he has recovered from a craniotomy and had surgery on his arm to repair broken bones. It has been nothing short of a miracle to where he is right now, today – already out of ICU, out of progressive care, and into a room that requires less supervision. He has held real conversation, recognizes people, and today, even went for a short walk. His brain injury is improving drastically and it is all because of the prayers, support and God’s unfailing love and healing power.

Luke and his wife Charis have been friends of mine now for the past 7 years. They are some of the strongest, most brave people I know (even before all of this). I am astounded and so, so thankful for the community of Charlotte, all of his family and friends coming together in prayer and encouragement. Raising money, bringing meals to him and Charis, actively doing anything and everything they can.

Speaking of which, here are some ways you can donate some money for medical expenses, meals, and just show some love to the Hills!

• Donate to Luke’s medical expenses on GoFundMe here. We’ve almost hit our goal! SO amazing.

• Bring Luke a yummy meal on Take Them A Meal’s website by clicking here. (Last name: Hill, Password: 3570)

• You can take part in Green Light Tattoo‘s raffling tickets for 3 $150 tattoos.

• Purchase a t-shirt our friend Jonathan Taylor designed here.

• And don’t forget to come to Luke’s Benefit Show – Saturday, November 15th at Neighborhood Theatre – featuring some amazing local bands like Flagship, Warsong, Solis, Jeremiah Wilde and more!

So, with all that being said, I wanted to dedicate today’s playlist to Luke! Starting off with one of his favourites, Thrice – In Exile. So enjoy, and keep on fighting Luke! We love you and are continuing to stand with you in prayer and faith during this time! :)

I had the opportunity to host an hour and a half of awesome music and rambling about said awesome music. Yep. I loved doing it, and I love sharing all this music with you even more! YAY LOVE, YAY MUSIC!

Alright, that’s it. I’ll see ya soon! Xo

Bombay Bicycle Club, LIVE!

Monday night I got to live my dream of finaaaaally seeing Bombay Bicycle Club live at Cat’s Cradle. It was everything, and waaaay more than I could have even imagined. They’vre hands down one of my favourite bands, and probably one of my favourite live shows…ever.

The band opened with “Overdone” and of course, they immediately commenced blowing my mind. This show was far from a soft lullaby to tuck the audience in for the night. The English band, with it’s typical warm tones and softer ballads, dashed all expectations of anyone who thought that’s what they were about, with a head-banging garage band persona. They closed with “Carry Me” and prior to that, “What If” – which is one of my all-time favourite older BBC songs, off their 2009 album “I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose”.

I honestly don’t have any other words to say except THE SHOW WAS FREAKING AMAZING. It was insanely hot that day, (in the mid 90’s) and the venue didn’t really have any A/C going…so, everyone was drenched in their own sweat..GROSS, I know. It was so worth it though! Tons and tons of dancing – I mean, if you’re gonna sweat, at least do it right!

Here are some videos and photos from the show! Don’t mind the occasional shaky video..and lower quality iPhone pics..enjoy! :)

Carousel

Carousel came my way about a month ago, via SoundCloud. It was their dreamy track, ‘Wolf’s Awake‘ that lured me in. Since then, I’ve been listening to them almost regularly. Fortunately for me, they were in Charlotte last night and I had the privilege of seeing them live. Having recently just listened to their newest EP “Palms” (It came out last year, I am just late, ha), I was especially stoked to see them do a live performance. The guys opened for Cherub – which I was equally as stoked to see – being from Nashville and all. Carousel went above and beyond my expectations! Great stage presence, really dancy, mellow vibes to their songs. Just so good. They were hands down my favourite of the night. (Sorry, ProbCause and Cherub! You all ruled too though.)

If you’re into melodic vocals, light synths and fun poppy-beats, then you’ll love Carousel. They’ve been compared to Passion Pit for their gossamer-type of music and airy style, but who they really remind me of is Gypsy & The Cat and Mackintosh Braun. Two bands that I love! So, it wasn’t hard for me to become hooked on this band.

Check ’em out for yourself, listen to their whole Palms EP here:

Have a lovely Saturday! Xo
