Let’s talk about air quality for a sec! Cus you know it’s important right? I mean besides my 60 plants (lol), breathing in clean air is a game changer!
Obviously, air pollutants can vary per location — you can check your local air quality conditions online pretty easy — but think about some of the factors contributing to poor quality indoor air in your own home:
- personal care and cleaning products
- gas ranges
- furniture (specifically pressed wood)
- water-damaged materials
- new building materials (new flooring, carpets, remodeling, etc.)
- tobacco smoke (even what’s brought in on your clothes)
Allergens, dust mites, in-home pollutants such as mold spores, VOCS, formaldehyde…the list goes on. No wonder some can suffer with terrible allergies/respiratory issues and more if the air they are breathing is poor quality.
Here’s what these factors above are contributing to the indoor air we’re breathing:
- asbestos
- nitrogen dioxide (NO2)
- pesticides
- radon (Rn)
- mold
- biological pollutants
- carbon monoxide (CO)
- formaldehyde
- lead (Pb)

So enter in the AirDoctor Pro! I was kindly gifted one to try out and share my experience with you all! I get bad seasonal allergies and I’ve honestly noticed a change in not only my allergies since I received it and started using it, but I’ve noticed dust isn’t as much of an issue, and whenever we cook (and it works a bit harder/turns yellow or red) the smokiness/smells don’t linger as long as they used to before! Small things, I know, but big deals for me! We keep ours on most of the day, mainly in the living room/kitchen area — it covers up to 900 sq. ft. — and then move it into our bedroom at night.
One of my favourite features on it is the Auto Sensor with Air Quality Indicator. It’s displayed as a coloured circle on the front of the unit. (Head to my Instagram post here and swipe left to see the video!) The colour informs you of the current air quality, so Blue = Good // Orange = Moderate // Red = Poor. It has a 24-hour timer, an Auto Mode (which is what we keep it on) and a Filter Change Alert, AND a Night Mode (turns off all lights so it isn’t distracting at night) amongst other amazing features.

As far as filter replacements go and how long they last:
- 12 months of use from the UltraHEPA filter (replacement cost is $60).
- 6 months of use from the Activated Carbon filter (replacement cost is $60).
This is only if you use it every day morning and night. We keep ours on auto and it’s almost ALWAYS on Blue (Good quality air), so if that’s the case and we feel like air quality is good, we turn it off unless cooking or it’s extra dusty/new paint/furniture, etc.
So basically, you’ll spend about $180 per year to maintain the filters in this air purifier (1 UltraHEPA filter and 2 Activated Carbon filters). While that may seem like it’s a bit steep, the purifier covers a lot of room area — it’s a powerful filter and they don’t come cheap! We had a small air filter that only covered under 200 sq. ft, and I was buying a small filter every 2-3 months and it was adding up! So this AirDoc is a welcome change, and WAY more powerful/covers an amazing amount of square footage.
