Carousel came my way about a month ago, via SoundCloud. It was their dreamy track, ‘Wolf’s Awake‘ that lured me in. Since then, I’ve been listening to them almost regularly. Fortunately for me, they were in Charlotte last night and I had the privilege of seeing them live. Having recently just listened to their newest EP “Palms” (It came out last year, I am just late, ha), I was especially stoked to see them do a live performance. The guys opened for Cherub – which I was equally as stoked to see – being from Nashville and all. Carousel went above and beyond my expectations! Great stage presence, really dancy, mellow vibes to their songs. Just so good. They were hands down my favourite of the night. (Sorry, ProbCause and Cherub! You all ruled too though.)
If you’re into melodic vocals, light synths and fun poppy-beats, then you’ll love Carousel. They’ve been compared to Passion Pit for their gossamer-type of music and airy style, but who they really remind me of is Gypsy & The Cat and Mackintosh Braun. Two bands that I love! So, it wasn’t hard for me to become hooked on this band.
Check ’em out for yourself, listen to their whole Palms EP here:
