If you’ve ever listened and enjoyed the musical works of William Fitzsimmons, then boy, do I ever have a band for you! Meet Lonesome Animals, Fitzsimmons first, proudly produced band. So, with that being said, here’s a band that has been produced by one of my favourite singers/songwriters…kind of leaves you expecting the best, right? Right. Well, don’t worry, cus this band has far exceeded my expectations.
I’m sure you’re wondering, well, “how much William Fitzsimmons influence is there?” My thoughts on it from just the first listen? There’s a lot, without it being completely identical – and that’s definitely a good thing. One of my favourite songs, “Burn” immediately drew my attention to the musical similarities Fitzsimmons produces. Maybe it’s the way the guitar is picked and strummed, how she sings softly, the sad melody or the lyrics “I need you/does it burn you, too”. Either way, it’s perfect. Beautifully written, somberly sung, and a very pleasant, easy listen.
“We are lonesome animals. We spend all our life trying to be less lonesome.” John Steinbeck. Lonesome Animals provides a musical home for this quote, certainly creating appeal for the broken-hearted and the romantics (hellooooo, me!), while still keeping a balanced tone of optimism and hope.
I recommend everyone and anyone, regardless of your musical taste, gives Lonesome Animals a listen. Share them with your friends and family, play them one night while you curl up and read a book, or maybe just take a long drive somewhere, but purposefully get lost (I love doing that..) so you can just cruise around with the beautiful melodies of Lonesome Animals. ;)
Don’t forget to follow them on Myspace, and like their Facebook Page!
Have a great Wednesday!
