Skin, skin, skinnnnn! It’s what’s in right now, no? Luminous, dewy, hydrated, and plump skin! I’m all about it..the glowier, the better. But we need to work on achieving that skin and it, of course, starts with being well-hydrated, well-fed (eating organic, whole foods, low to no sugar – easier said than done for me lol) and getting our rest! These factors are so key! But then comes the next most important part: skincare to maintain it all! So, I figured what better way to share about that than give you my updated skincare routine to get the ball rollin’? It’s what has helped me keep my skin in tip-top shape, including keeping blemishes at bay, my face as soft as a baby’s bottom (ok ok, not quite, but pretty close), and brightening my under eyes..along with so many other benefits.
I will preface, my skin is not your skin. I’m dry, with a tendency to be oily in the t-zone. So sometimes I’m a bit combo-ish. Not everything that works for me will work for you…so, if you can keep that in mind, then we can get started! ;)
CLEANSERS
WHAMISA Organic Flowers Cleansing Water …the incredible cleansing micellar water! I found out about this lovely product through fellow green beauty blogger and pal, Lilly Wallace of Genuine Glow. I purchased this myself on Amazon and absolutely love it! It’s gentle, in a cute pink bottle and its ingredients are wonderful! Damask Rose Petal Mist is mostly what it’s comprised of and it’s made of 74.35% organically fermented ingredients, plus, it’s formulated without any nasties! It’s perfect for initially removing lipstick and eye makeup before your deep cleanse. It’s also awesome with a bit on a q-tip to pinpoint clean up any makeup mishaps or eyeshadow fallout!
Stark Skincare Eclipse Activated Cleansing Gel is CANADIAN! Okay, it really is a Canadian company. (PROUD MUCH?!) BUT mostly it’s an oil-less charcoal grey gel cleanser that, unlike its moody and dark appearance, is ultra-gentle! The charcoal helps to detoxify and deep-cleanse. It also offers exfoliation and brightening properties, leaving your skin feeling baby bottom soft. Don’t be fooled, just because it has no oils, it still hydrates with its Organic Aloe Ingredient. I was a bit nervous first using this, but it’s become a fave when in the shower after a sweaty, long day outside and it’s so clarifying and cleanses my face beautifully! Magiiiiique!!
Mahalo Skincare Unveil Cleanser Melt Concentrate is a no cloth-required cleansing balm. It is the most gorgeous green hue and it melts into your skin to deeply cleanse all of your makeup off – pesky eye makeup included! It leaves no residue, doesn’t clog pores, and actually gently exfoliates and softens the skin with its natural fruit enzymes. It’s a balm-to-milk formula (the best) that is so lovely and gentle, I never want it to end! Plus, can we talk about that bamboo packaging?! Sustainably chic. ;) LOVE this as my first initial oil cleanse (I love double cleansing!) and then I use a milky or foamy cleanser afterward.
Fitglow Beauty Calm Cleansing Milk is my ride-or-die. If you know me or follow me, then YOU KNOW I cannot live without this product. I’ve been using it for almost 4 years strong now! It has been such a gift to my sensitive skin. This stuff is incredibly gentle – exactly what I think of when a “cleansing milk” is involved. Also, see a theme? I love gentle products. Soothing and moisturising; this creamy cleanser gently lathers on my face to remove my makeup and other impurities without stripping or irritating me. The ingredients are beautiful: organic cucumber and aloe juice which calm and replenish the moisture on my face. It’s even amazing as a makeup remover on a cotton pad, as it’s gentle on the eyes. A fave, through and through.

Graydon Skincare Super Sensitive Face Foam is exactly what it claims to be! Super gentle, amazing for sensitive skin (most all of their products are!) and I loooove how this foams. It becomes almost creamy! Light, but effective, it won’t strip your skin, and..for my sensitive-nosed pals (myself included at times!) it’s unscented. This product contains an army of powerful actives to tone and smooth your skin and it’s lake and ocean-friendly. I can safely say that per Graydon, it’s absolutely friendly for all skin types (from the sensitive, combination, and oily)!
FACE MISTS
Graydon Skincare Face Food Mineral Mist is like splashing your face with fresh water – except waaaay better and it’s good for your face. I know that doesn’t sound super exciting, but I promise, this stuff is amazing! First off, I love that this product is so simple and has clean, minimal ingredients!
- Copper: for the production of collagen and elastin.
- Silver: effectively penetrates skin cells to help ward off bacteria.
- Zinc: decreases inflammation to help minimize blotchy red skin.
- Magnesium: extremely soothing to the skin and does a wonderful job of combating skin allergies.
Besides the obviously incredible ingredients, this product boosts hydration and is totally unscented so it works on all skin types. It also reduces redness, balances pH levels (so important because we strip our skin of its healthy pH when we cleanse/rinse) and it soothes open pores plus protects your ‘acid mantle’ (the protective outer layer of your skin). I mean, dang, get it, Face Food! I love to use this in the morning all ovaaaaa my face! Sometimes I take a few pumps of it in my hands and just press it onto my face. So lovely!
H IS FOR LOVE POLLEN Illuminating Mist isn’t your run-of-the-mill face mist. I mean, the H in H Is For Love stands for HolyCrapTheseProductsRule…right? ;) This Illuminating Mist contains rose hydrosol, witch hazel, colloidal silver, skin-softening vegetable glycerin, delicate floral EO’s, and the breath of angels sent from the heavens above…(okay, I added that part). These ingredients help to even skin tone, provide anti-inflammatory and astringent benefits – plus, they balance the skin’s pH. Lord knows this face needs it! Oh yeah, there’s also organically grown, fractionally distilled aloe in it. What’s this mean? Well, it isolates only the most beneficial components of Aloe Vera Barbadensis Miller. (Also known as Aloe lol.) I love setting my makeup with this Mist, refreshing my face throughout the day..and using it to mix dry masks together. SUHHHH GOOD.

EXFOLIATE
OSEA Malibu Vitamin C Probiotic Polish is a supercharged Vitamin C + Probiotic Exfoliant that sloughs away all the dead skin with its fine powdered grit (comprised of finely ground organic Bamboo and Rice Powders). It gently polishes the skin (when you do it gently of course) and reveals brighter, more luminous skin. This exfoliant does it all: smoothes and brightens your complexion, reduces the look of hyperpigmentation, and removes all that nasty dead skin we don’t want! If the fine powder wasn’t enough, there are Fermented Pomegranate enzymes that also gently remove surface build-up. Activate it with water and it becomes a paste that’s easy to apply and wash off. I LOVE this face polish and use it twice a week! Exfoliation is SO important for a smooth, bright canvas. :)
UNDEREYES
OSEA Malibu Eye Gel Serum is in one word – REFRESHING! It’s also potent, yet gentle, effective, and light..hydrating and cooling. Gosh, it’s so good. With ingredients such as Organic Algae, Resveratrol, and Hyaluronic Acid – your under-eyes will be bright + tight ya’ll. I love keeping this in the fridge overnight and using it in the morning. It instantly depuffs and soothes. (SADLY no longer made!)
Tata Harper Illuminating Eye Creme is the end-all for visibly (on the spot) illuminating the under eyes. It targets dark circles, dry and dull skin, fine lines, and wrinkles. I have the tiny travel size (pictured on the left) and it’s lovely. You only need the tiniest bit! I apply around the entire eye area – upper and lower lids. Tata recommends for added radiance, to lightly press into the skin on top of the concealer. This powerhouse eye creme is age-defying and creates a soft-focus luminescence using real diamond dust for a highlighting effect. (HELLO!)
Maya Chia The Eye Achiever (as described by Maya Chia) is a highly concentrated, multi-correctional eye serum expressly created to treat the delicate skin around the contour. I love this eye serum because it’s fast fast-absorbing, yet so hydrating and potent! It has an infusion of the most nutrient-dense ingredients including five macro and micro marine extracts (astaxanthin, sea fennel, sea lavender, wakame, algae extract), as well as the most nutrient-dense plant oils, including supercritical chia seed oil, raspberry, black cumin seed oil, rooibos tea extract, pomegranate, and cranberry. Need I say more? I love applying this at night, but love it in the morning as well! I gently pat the oil serum into my undereye area after applying it with the (cooling, metal) rollerball. (I like to let it sink in a bit before applying any undereye concealer/foundation.) You could totally wear this throughout the day if you’re doing a no-makeup day too! This eye serum brightens, brings back the firmness we all love…all while protecting and intensely hydrating the skin around my delicate eye area. It truly is the achiever of many great things!
FACE OILS, SERUMS, AND BALMS
Ahhh my faaaavourite skincare buddies! Well actually, I may love Face Mists/Toners almost equally as much, but I digress…
Welcome Agent Nateur’s h o l i (oil) Youth Serum. In all seriousness, if you’re looking to buy an incredibly gentle, balancing, healing, replenishing, hydrating, and most of all EFFECTIVE oil…this is the one you want.
You can read all about my thoughts on it in my full blog post I did on Agent’s skincare products HERE. Trust me, it is that good. You’ll be thanking me later.

Heart of Gold is such a unique and special brand, in my opinion! First off, just LOOK at these gorgeous oils! THE COLOUR. These two oils are pretty impressive and are in the process of being rebranded, but I just couldn’t help myself but put them in here. I will keep you updated with their ‘newness’ on Instagram (and on here) once I get all of that info! In the meantime, here are their links Harvest Moon Oil Serum + Recalibrate Hormone Support Concentrate and you can read all about what they do and how incredible they are! I use the Oilserum in the morning on the high points of my cheeks and then any leftover on the rest of my face and the Hormone Support Concentrate, I use at night before bed along the jawline or 1 drop mixed into a face oil.
Earthwise Beauty Tigress Balm is fast-absorbing, non-pore-clogging, healing, and balancing – this face balm is one of my favourites for combo/acneic skin! I am more on the dry side, and sometimes I have hormonal breakouts, but this balm works beautifully for me. Not only that but it can even be used on the high points of your face to give you a stellar glow (natural highlighter people)! This product comes in 1.2fl oz and 0.25 fl oz jars. I suggest getting the smaller jar first to try it out and if you love it (I know I do!) – it’s so worth the splurge! Plus, it lasts FOREVER because you just need the smallest amount. It’s incredibly unique, effective, and just overall an amazing face balm!

Skin Owl Geranium Beauty Drops blew me out of the water the first time I used them in conjunction with their cream (which is chatted about below), this oil is comprised of two ingredients: raw, organic, unrefined argan oil, and organic rose geranium oil. That. Is. It! Potent, effective, balancing, decongesting and it even helps in the aging department, plus it gives you a boost of radiance! I use this day and night and go a little lighter for daytime wear. You can wear it as a moisturiser, alone, or mixed in with your favourite face cream! Always a good tip for face oils before you apply makeup, be sure to let it sink in a minute or two! (Brush your teeth, comb your hair, get dressed…idk, do something for a minute or two while it absorbs!) This oil is recommended for dehydrated, dull, combination skin types.

SERUMS AND MOISTURISERS
Fitglow Beauty Vita Active Serum would probably fool you with its light gel consistency and slight orange pigment…this serum packs a punch, and don’t worry – it dries clear too! With ingredients like Aloe Vera, Vitamin B3, Botanical Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C, CoQ10, and more…Vita Active Serum increases collagen production, diminishes spots, hyperpigmentation, and sun damage, plus improves elasticity while offering long-acting protection from further damage. I love using this after I’ve spritzed on some toner and before I apply moisturiser.

Fitglow Beauty Age Clear Lotion is my go-to for those hot summers when you don’t want anything that’s heavy on your skin because you’re already feelin’ so oily from the heat and humidity…ya know? It’s light, still super hydrating and it contains ingredients that diminish fine lines, prevent breakouts – it contains rare organic TONKA BEAN extract which inhibits bacteria on the skin to reduce blemish formation – plus it nourishes and plumps your skin! I use this almost every morning, and some evenings too! I follow up with a face oil if I want a little extra glow in certain areas. But this stuff is SO wonderful on its own or cocktail’d with an oil.

Fitglow Beauty Redness Rescue Cream WHAT in the heck did I do before you existed?! This stuff totally calms my redness, soothes my sensitive skin, and hydrates my skin! It carries a blend of organic comfrey, calendula, and chamomile which repairs skin, stimulates cell growth, plus gets rid of that pesky skin inflammation. There is a green (mineral) tint to the cream, which of course, immediately reduces the look of redness. Green is on the opposite end of the colour wheel from red – so it cancels it out! RRC also contains Organic Grapeseed Oil, so it moisturises and hydrates without greasiness. I’d say this product is awesome for anyone who struggles with redness, rosacea, sensitivity, and/or stressed skin. I can’t be without it! LIKE EVER.

Graydon Skincare The Putty isn’t the kind of putty you’re thinking. It’s not purple and stretchy…it’s BETTER. I haven’t enough adjectives, let alone words to express my love for this product. Basically, this stuff is a super soothing lotion for dry, red, irritated skin. (Enter in Sammie’s skin ha!) The ingredient list on this product is not short, but it’s all AMAZING! Each and every item listed has been specifically chosen to soothe the skin. It’s made with a complex blend of healing oils and is amazing as both a face moisturiser and get this…a targeted spot healing treatment anywhere on the body. Multi-taskers FTW! With ingredients such as rare and precious essential oils of Helichrysum, Carrot Seed, Tamanu, and Buriti, many people experience skin issues (from eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, and dermatitis) have found The Putty helpful in alleviating their problematic skin. Taming inflammation, tenderness, and redness are associated with these conditions. It’s amazing mixed with face oil too and gives you glowy, hydrated skin!
Hynt Beauty Sun Prep Broad Spectrum SPF 25 Sunscreen is my favourite sunscreen for skincare! Now, I do not recommend sunscreen every day…in fact, if you’re cooped up in an office and literally get your sun when you’re driving home in your car later in the day or evening – you do not, I repeat, you do NOT need it! Here, I won’t explain myself, I’ll just let you ready my girl Courtney Kahla’s post all on sunscreen, sun rays, and all that jazz! CLICK HERE. Anyways, if you’re going to be in the sun for long periods of time (like if you’re going to the beach for the day) then I love this SUN PREP for the face and neck! It naturally shields delicate skin from UVA/UVB rays using a barrier of protection with a non-nano particle, micronized Titanium Dioxide. It’s virtually undetectable, yep, absolutely no white-cast and its formula soothes and protects the skin while creating a flawless base for makeup application. AND IT SMELLS AMAZING. WINNNNING!
Skinowl Beauty Whip in Maqui Berry is a whipped skincare treat for your face. It’s dessert basically…okay, too far? LOL, I just really love this product. It’s quite unique and the texture is lovely, not to mention when it’s ON your skin…feels like a million dollars and you glow like nobody’s business. So, it’s also meant to be used as a mask, an EXTRA hydrating mask. Like, its superhero name is SUPER HYDRATOR. (That was bad, I know.) This gentle mask has fierce hydrators like hyaluronic acid, organic olive and jojoba oils, plus antioxidant-rich Patagonian maqui berry that help combat damage caused by environmental stressors. ONE MORE THING, it’s amazing as a makeup primer under foundation. Oh yes, you want this stuff.

Luxe Botanics Kigelia Clarifying Moisturiser as you may have already read in my previous post, dedicated to Luxe Botanics, is the bomb. Now that it’s hot and summery weather outside, my skin sometimes feels a bit too clogged and heavy with a thick cream moisturiser on. But when I apply Kigelia, it’s an instant relief. Cooling upon contact, as it’s more of a water-based moisturiser, it plumps up my skin and gets it feeling silky smooth. I love using this in the daytime before I apply my makeup. I pat it into my face gently and also onto my neck (don’t neglect the neck).

Ohh great. very impressive summer skin care routine products. I always got confused between so many skin care products available now a days. But, this article helped me a lot to choose some of very essential products for summer skin care. Amazing work.

Aw thanks for the kind words! That means a lot. Glad it helped you!
I have sensitive/acne-prone skin and the only moisturizer I seem to be able to use is the Simple brand moisturizer. I’d love to use something with better ingredients, do you have any oil-free moisturizer recommendations? Thank you!
Are you meaning you want a water-based moisturizer? There are still derivatives of oil or a lighter oil in most every “green” moisturizer I’ve used, they’re just water-based and lighter rather than oil-based.
Also, oil is actually good for acne-prone and sensitive skin, if you get the right one. It’s a common misconception that acne-prone and sensitive skin can’t use oils because they’ll “clog” or irritate. But it’s quite the opposite! The right oil can balance, heal and sooth beautifully. One of my favourite oils for sensitive/acne-prone skin is Laurel’s Anti-Inflammatory Serum: http://shrsl.com/17nc5. If you’re still not wanting an oil, I recommend CV Skinlabs Calming Moisture Cream: http://shrsl.com/rs2a
Hope you find what you’re looking for!
