Happy Saturday everyone! I hope your weekend is faring well. I am really excited for today’s post! I recently had the opportunity to interview a new, up and coming band by the name of Colours. Kyle Tamo, the lead vocalist of this group, has been a long-time friend of mine (going on almost 7 years now) and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t just a tad bit proud of all he has accomplished musically. They truly are nothing short of incredible. The Florida-based capture the sheer essence of emotion in every song they have written so far. The band carries alluring, smooth, yet powerful vocals and effortless, fluid guitar-tones with the occasional charming piano break – Colours is utterly compelling, a musical black hole – unique and subtle instrumentation that will engulf all your senses.
Please read on for the short interview we recently had.
Please list all of you band members and their roles in the band.
Kyle Tamo – vocalist
Morgan Alley – drums
Matt Favero – bass
What are your hometowns?
I (Kyle) am born and raised in Colchester, CT. While the other two members grew up together in Sarasota, FL
How did you get together? And how long has it been?
Morgan and I once played together in the past, Morgan and Matt also played together. These connections with one another and an equal vision for music brought us together in 2013.
What’s the bands driving force?
The groups driving force is to make Colours a brand separate from ourselves. We want to music to speak for itself and influence on a level further than casual listening. We’re lucky enough to be a part of something that we see so much potential in.
Who are your main band influences?
The band in its short life has already shifted directions due to influence and contagious passion from artist like Crosses, Lana Del Rey, Lykke Li, The XX among many many others.
Who does what creatively in the band? And what sets you apart from any other band?
We all have a strong hand creatively in the band, even separate from the music. Branding personal image, graphic design, photography and video is all done through the band collaboratively. We don’t claim to be innovators or pioneers that separates us from other bands. What sets us apart is our passion for doing what we do right, and well. The details matter in this, we look at it as art over just music.
How do you shut yourself off and focus to rehearse or record?
Sticking to the idea and brand we have as a band is important. We have been strategic in our movement and in our presence and find it important we don’t forget that. We try not to sacrifice the value we see in Colours and often that means not settling for something seemingly “good”. I suppose it comes down to diligence and discipline.
How did your name “Colours” come about? And why the choice of spelling it the English way with the “u”?
The name Colours sat well with us in the respect of our personalities and approach to music. We all have a strong pallet creatively and found ourselves bringing a lot of variable or color to the table. Adding the “u” was just another attempt at keeping a name so simple more memorable. Also…we like Canadians.
So for those readers who haven’t heard it yet, what can they expect from the EP and other new songs put out?
The EP was our “stranger at the party”. We made the music together without knowing what was going to come out or how it was going to be received. While we are proud of the music that came of it, we held ourselves back creatively to get a feel for what we can do. Were now working on a full length that will represent us more accurately. We are now comfortable and ready to have a substantial presence. Expect hip hop and rhythm influenced music with controlled and flowing vocal melodies.
How can fans-to-be gain access to your music? Do you have a website with sample songs or a demo CD?

Hey Sam! Thanks for sharing Colours, I especially love the video. Have you ever heard of Prinze George? Based on some of the other music you’ve been posting about I think you might like them :)
