Welcome back to the second part of my skincare routine! Today we’re chatting about my Evening Skincare Routine. My end of the day, get-ready-for-bed, winding down skincare regimen is fairly simple…although my husband Davey would probably say it takes forever! Haha, it’s true though, I love to take my time with skincare. Cleansing and massaging and masking…it’s truly my favourite part of the day. If you read my Morning Skincare Routine, then you know all about my skin type, issues and all that fun stuff.
That being said, let’s start with what I cleanse my face with!
STEP 1: Remove first layer of makeup
Typically, (and I forgot to snap a pic of this) I start by using the Acure Organics Unscented Argan Oil Cleansing Towelettes. They remove the bulk of my surface makeup quickly and then ingredients are so clean! I love me some Acure Organics.
STEP 2: Thoroughly cleanse
Following the first step, I then wet my face and do one full pump of my favourite cleanser…
1. FitGlow Beauty Calm Cleansing Milk*
This stuff is AWESOME. I seriously don’t know where I’d be without it! My sensitive, combo skin loves it…and it totally calms any redness or stressed skin.
Extremely gentle, soothing and moisturizing; Calm Cleansing Milk removes makeup and impurities without stripping your skin or irritating sensitive skin types. It has amazing ingredients like organic cucumber and aloe juice, which help soothe skin and replenish moisture while leaving skin clean and refreshed. It’s also 90% organic.
HOW TO USE
One pump of this stuff, on a wet face, does the trick for me! It doesn’t really foam, it’s more of a creamy consistency that gently lathers on your face. I love to massage it in, taking my time to really give my face a good clean! Rinse it with some warm water and that’s it!
2. FitGlow Beauty Microscrub (from the Weekend Reset Kit)*
I simply cannot do without this stuff…and you only need the teeniest amount, so it lasts forever! It’s totally safe for my sensitive skin and is nice and gentle while being super fine and exfoliating the mess out of my face! (In the best way, of course!)
Basically, this Microscrub gently eliminates the top layer of your epidermis, which in turn brings newer skin to the surface and enhances the absorption of skincare products. So, yes, this is a very important step! Especially if your skin is dry – say what? – yep…you need to be gently exfoliating if your skin is dry. Some may think it’s only for normal/oily skin types but nope! We sensitive, combo/dry skin people need it too! For me personally, I limit it to like three times a week in the summer and almost every night (or every other night) in the winter.
HOW TO USE
Apply a small amount to wet skin and gently rub in a circular motion. Rinse with warm water.

Step 3: Spritz yo face with some hydration!
Next up, I love to tone and rehydrate my face. This, to me, is essential for all of the serums and skincare to follow. It’s pretty simple…just spray all over your face and follow with your favourite serum. Let’s check out my two favourite mists at the moment:
1. Good Medicine Beauty Lab‘s Revival Mist “Breeze”*
Breeze is so incredible! It really does it all. I love using this at night because it revitalizes and purifies my face after a long day!
This wild desert aerosol quickly tones, revives and refreshes the skin. It restores balance to every skin type while delivering nutrient-rich hydration. What makes Breeze so amazing is that it’s rich with a wild desert tincture. It contains both ionized minerals and natural alkaline solutions…so it soothes, cools and calms the skin. It’s also amazing at purifying acne prone skin with its antibacterial properties! For hydration, fresh distilled limes and wild desert honey – good enough to eat, right?!
HOW TO USE
Mist all over the face or pour just a little bit of the liquid in the palm of your hand. Gently touch your hands together and using fingers like a brush, stroke the skin in an upward motion. Side-note: you can totally mist this over make up to set AND onto sun-kissed skin to quickly cool and encourage healing.
Use Regularly To Help
- Brighten & soften the skin
- Smooth rough patches & red areas
- Protect against inflammatory breakouts
- Balance the skin’s natural pH
- Clear dead skin cells & harmful toxins
- Balance the production of sebum
- Regenerate cell growth
**UPDATE: The Leahlani Skincare Regenerating Toner seen above is no longer what I use in my evening skincare routine. I have switched it to mornings and am loving it! It’s still a fave though, and can still absolutely be used before bedtime!

Step 4: Serums and/or elixirs
Being that I have sensitive skin, I have to be very cautious about which serums, oils, and elixirs I put on my face. I am currently in the process of trying two new serums in my morning/evening routine and will hopefully let you know how it’s been going soon! (It takes a while for my skin to really show the progress of a product!)
Anywho, with that being said, here are a couple of my faves that hydrate, brighten and replenish my skin in the best way…and then some.
1. Leahlani Mahina Evening Replenishing Elixir*
Okay, get ready to indulge because this amazing elixir is powerful and incredibly decadent. It’s hydrating without being heavy and it carries the most intoxicating scent (organic vanilla and citrus heaven)! Whenever I crawl into bed, my husband is like “Babe! Your face smells SO good!” ;) I think it’s so important to hydrate + care for our skin as we sleep, especially since our skin cells will be working through the night to repair our face from a full day of pollutants and dehydration. This stuff does the trick! ;)
HOW TO USE
I like to shake it well before using it. Then, after I cleanse and mist my face I gently ‘press’ or massage one half to one full pump of Mahina Elixir into my face + neck.
2. Leahlani Skincare Siren Serum*
Another one I can’t live without! This Serum has become a staple in my evening skincare routine (I mean, it’s on here, so obviously). And of course, Leah does it again with the mesmerizing natural scents…this stuff is just pure gold!
The Siren Serum is a radiant blend of Vitamin C and A rich oils, tonifying algae and a brightening infusion of over 15 regenerating and invigorating essential oils! Fun fact: Bioactive Seabuckthorn CO2 oil is loaded with carotenoids, fatty acids, and tocopherols that promote cellular regeneration and help to heal and protect the skin from UV damage. This Serum is also infused with youth enhancing oils such as carrot seed, geranium, jasmine, rose, ylang-ylang, and grapefruit. The addition of microalgae helps to improve vitality by boosting cellular energy and promoting new cell growth and leaves the skin feeling fresh and toned. Whoa, mama! Even, gorgeous skin tone….here I come! ;)
HOW TO USE:
Give it a little shake and pump 1/2 – 1 pump (a little goes a long way with this stuff!) of the Serum gently pressing or massaging it onto your clean face, neck and decollete. Leah encourages this Serum for nighttime use!
I love using this in Leah’s facial masks for an extra glow! I just add about two drops and mix it in. Leah has a whole slew of #alohaalchemy concoctions! Go check ’em out!

Step 5: Balancing, Purifying + Correcting
My sensitive, combo, sometimes hormonal skin definitely needs a dose of these three! Thank goodness they’re around!
1. Herbivore Botanicals Lapis Facial Oil*
So, you can’t see it (because I literally emptied this little roller sized bottle) but this oil is a beautiful deep blue colour! That’s what Lapis Lazuli, a favorite stone of ancient Egypt, is known for! But, Sammie….what about if I have oily skin? Facial oil for oily skin!? Yep! Herbivore explains it best:
“Often times when we over-wash our skin and do not moisturize thoroughly, it overcompensates by producing more oil and sebum leading to oilier skin and clogged pores. Our facial oils are made with 100% natural and pure plant oils that will thoroughly hydrate your skin without clogging pores so that it can stop producing excess oil and find the balance it needs. In short, yes, oily skin needs moisture too and is often dehydrated, leading to dry patches and the overcompensation of oil and sebum.”
This Lapis Facial Oil is named for the precious blue oil it contains, Blue Tansy. Within Blue Tansy, there’s a component called Azulene which acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory and antibacterial. Azulene helps in reducing redness and clarifying the complexion. Lapis is amazing for moisturizing too, and it doesn’t feel heavy whatsoever! It’s also formulated for combination, oily, and blemish-prone skin types or any skin in need of relief from inflammation. (HELLO!) Everything Herbivore creates contains the finest, all-natural ingredients…so you’re getting cold-pressed or steam distilled quality oils!
HOW TO USE
Roll on generously or apply (if you have the full size) 3–10 drops to cleansed and toned skin – it can be used in the morning too. Massage it in and allow to absorb for 1–3 minutes before applying makeup (if you’re using it in the morning, of course).
2. Suki Transformative Purifying Masque*
“I formulate my purifying masque as the ultimate solution – my stress reducing multitasker – for your worst skin problems & your go–to overnight ‘spot’ weapon.” – know your beauty – Suki
“‘Spot’ weapon”…I love that! Suki isn’t kidding either, this masque/spot treatment packs a punch! With ingredients like Kaolin and SSS Salicylic Acid, it draws toxins and impurities out from the pores, clarify your skin without dehydrating it, targets the underlying causes of chronically problematic skin, reduces the appearance of blemishing of all kinds – cystic, white & blackheads, exfoliates and purifies and reduces overly active skin challenges! Suki‘s SSS technology is really quite neat: it’s the advanced delivery method of the powerful healthy-aging & problem skin active, SSS retinol vitamin A™, and it’s uniquely, “safe for sensitivities”. WHEW! I told you it packed a punch!
HOW TO USE
If using it as a masque: use a small amount, smooth over face, leave on 20 minutes or overnight. Then, remove it with a wet facial cloth. This masque is totally safe to use daily!
Spot treatment: apply & leave on overnight. Then remove the next morning with a wet facial cloth.
3. Violet Skin Boutique Power Skin Corrector*
Yes, you guessed it, another can’t live without product! (Not to mention, I’m almost out!) This Corrector has a powerful formula that reduces the appearance of breakouts while supporting natural healing with anti-inflammatory ingredients, soothing and reducing any redness. (It even works on scars and bug-bites!) Remember your mom putting calamine lotion on your bug bites or chicken pox? Yep, this stuff has it! Plus, the perfect combination of a carbolic acid with its antiseptic and antibacterial properties, along with calming calamine make this Power Skin Corrector a miracle for reducing spots and scars, as well as healing acne and breakouts.
HOW TO USE
Simply take a q-tip, dip it in the lotion, apply to blemish and let it dry.
Violet recommends this treatment for acne breakouts, insect bites and blemishes as an overnight treatment daily.

I’ve already gone over my love for this eye serum in my Morning Skincare Routine – so definitely read all about it there!
1. Marie Veronique’s Eye Repair Serum (formerly Eye Recovery Serum)*
The only thing that changes for the evening routine is that….well, it’s the evening. (HA!)
