Fall is almost here, and in honour of my favourite season, here’s one of my favourite “dark” looks. Call it goth, call it vampy… I love it. Read on for how to achieve it!
Eyes: I kept the eyes pretty simple, actually. It’s basically all about shading and creating a deep-set eye. I applied a matte beige eyeshadow (i.e. Fleur by Alima Pure) all over my brow bone, as well as my lid, as a base for my other shadows to blend onto.
Then, I took a shade similar to Blond (also by Alima) and applied that into my crease and all the way to the inner corner (with a fluffy crease brush) with small circular motions, as my transition colour. (A transition colour makes the other shadows that are darker blend better over top.)
Next, with a smaller brush, I applied a deeper brown shade (i.e. Cocoa) and created an almost sideways ‘v’ shape across my crease and into my lid. Blend, blend and then blend some more to create a super soft eye. I then took a pinky-mauve shade and applied it to the edges of the sideways ‘v’ to soften up the edges a bit. Taking a mix of matte black (i.e Alima Pure’s Satin Matte Eyeliner in Black – also can be used as a shadow) and brown (i.e. Earthy Calm by Kjaer Weis) shades and I deepened the ‘v’ a bit more, to create more depth, intensity and definition. Again, blend it out well!
Now, take a black crayon eyepencil (i.e. Hypnotist Eye Pencil in Ebony by W3LL People) and line your upper waterline – aka tightline.
Get your favourite black liquid or gel eyeliner out and start mapping out a thin wing/cat eye shape. This is completely optional! I love the dramatic effect it gives, but you can do without the liner if you like!
Apply your standard coat of mascara, whichever brand or kind you prefer – I love this W3LL People Expressionist Bio Extreme Mascara. It has hyper pure mineral pigments which create the blackest of black for highly defined, luxurious lashes without irritating your eyes. So good!
There you go, you did it! You finished the eyes! Continue with your base/foundation and concealers etc, per usual. Check out my post on How-to Apply Creme Foundation, if you’d like a more in depth tutorial on that!
Lips: The easy part! Pick your favourite deep wine/berry/plum/raisin lip colour (basically any deep, dark and vampy shade you have) and apply it to your lips with a lip brush. (I love this Kjaer Weis one!)
I think a lipstick shade such as ILIA’s Rumba is gorgeous! I sometimes mix it with my black Onyx shadow by Kjaer Weis to give it a deeper, vampier depth.
Ooh la la, you’re now ready to captivate everyone around you with your bold, vampy fall look!
