Ladies! We’re talkin’ lipsticks today and I couldn’t be more stoked. If you know me, you know I love me some lip products. I dunno, there’s something special about a tube of lipstick. Maybe it’s cus they’ve been around for aaaages…
“Ancient Sumerian men and women were possibly the first to invent and wear lipstick, about 5,000 years ago.[1] They crushed gemstones and used them to decorate their faces, mainly on the lips and around the eyes.[2] Also around 3000 BC to 1500 BC, women in the ancient Indus Valley Civilization applied red tinted lipstick to their lips for face decoration.[3]Ancient Egyptians extracted red dye from fucus-algin, 0.01% iodine, and some bromine mannite, but this dye resulted in serious illness.”
…or maybe it’s just because I’m a makeup lover, and a definitely lipstick hoarder. Lipstick can change your mood, your look..your whole persona, if you really want it to! But enough of why I love it and let’s jump right into why these featured Lippy Girl Lipsticks are rockin’ my life right now!
Focused mostly on lip products, this Canadian-based beauty company Lippy Girl Makeup has been around since 2011. They’ve been making a name for themselves – a great one – when it comes to vegan, cruelty-free and organic makeup. So far, I’ve been incredibly impressed with these amazing, affordable, all natural, top quality makeup products. Here are a few tid-bits that makes this cruelty-free company pretty neat:
Natural ingredients. They use all natural ingredients and none of their products contain chemical preservatives like Parabens, Phthalates or petroleum products.
Organic. Yes! Lippy Girl uses organic oils to create their fabulous makeup products.
Vegan. You read right, everything created by LG makes sure to exclude any animal products. They are formulated with organic oils, bee-free waxes, and natural mineral pigments. Since many people are allergic and get irritated by animal ingredients like carmine, lanolin, keratin, lactose, elastin and more, you will never see these items in their products.
These are a few of the main non-vegan lipstick ingredients, but there are certainly others to watch out for, including casein (from milk), collagen (from animal tissue) and glycerin (from animal fat).
Cruelty free. Lippy Girl Makeup is a PETA certified cruelty free company. They make their promise to never test their products on animals, but they’ve made agreements with their manufacturer and ingredient supplier that they’ll never test on animals either. So solid.
The lipstick containers, which may look plasticky in pictures, are actually made of recyclable aluminum tubes – which make that lovely satisfying little click on closing – and the boxes are made with non-coated cardboard that you can easily recycle!
Okay, let’s get to the good part – SWATCHES!! I’ve taken swatches on my lips, and on my arm so you can get the full gist of it!
“Boss Lady” – A gorgeous matte, brick red with orange undertones.
Overall, I adore these lipsticks. They’re incredibly smooth, buildable in colour and Lippy Girl has such a great shade selection! I will definitely be adding to my collection (cus I need more to hoard, duh) very soon.
