So, lately I’ve had this deliciously wonderful Cass McCombs tune stuck in my head. I wondered if there was a music video for it and low and behold…yes, there was! It’s quite simple, following around Cass at what seems to be a fair or outdoor event of some sort. Then, it gets real good at the end, showing some pretty bright lights and people dancing. If you know me, you know I love me some dancing! Anyways, make sure to watch it for yourself and the whole thing! You don’t wanna miss any of that yummy steel guitar sound towards the end. It’s beautiful.
Hello wonderful music-lovin’ people! This past week while I had downtime at the beach during Hurricane Arthur, I spent many hours looking up new music, bands, songs, videos, etc etc. Annnnnd well, I found a TON! I mean, like, a lot! So much so, I was almost overwhelmed. But, a good overwhelmed. I just love discovering new music – it does my heart some good.
So, get ready, cus some of these songs are my new faves. I especially love Mononoke. Check our the playlist, and as usual…share it with friends, but most of all, enjoy!! Xo
Happy Wednesday! This isn’t a new artist, or new song…or a pretty video (not really a video to watch actually) but it’s one of my favourite Josh Garrel songs and I’ve had it stuck in my head now for quite awhile. So, if you’re keen, please go ahead and accompany me while I indulge in some soulful, vibey, neo-folk sounds. You cool with that? Good. I know I am! ;)
So, without further adieu, here is the beautiful “Season Of Rain” from Josh Garrels 2008 album (one of my faves) “Jacaranda“:
You guys, I am beyond excited to share this AMAZING track that my friend Tim, also known as the talented DJ CUBBY put out yesterday!
It was debuted in the The Fader, and so far, I cannot get enough of it. I probably have listened to the song about 25 times since yesterday. I’m probably not even exaggerating. It’s THAT good. I’m pretty speechless, and so, in this case, my explanation of this song is probably going to be all over the place – I love it, it’s unreal, the beats…the lyrics, the soundddddd gahhhhh – hahaha. SO, Fader does the perfect job of explaining the flawless sounds you will be listening to:
“Even before Current’s falsetto hook drops on this first missive from NYC producer Cubby, it’s hard not to feel pretty smitten with the sound of the drums alone—the textural splay of the brush sounds, the just-a-little-too-slow snare. It’s a fittingly drowsy foundation for a song about the stupor-like state we can fall into over the course of a protracted winter like this one, split between the calm, dull pleasures of a time when life [is] slow, nights [are] boring and the feeling that you want to sleep in instead of going to work in the morning but you have to brave the slush and keep grinding because your rent’s past due. In fact, those are some of the literal scenarios described by the rapper Kwane, starting off all drawling and sluggish before eventually taking a dramatic left-turn into the suppressed anger that comes with a really bad case of cabin fever.”
I mean, c’mon…now you HAVE to listen to it! ;) So, without further adieu, here it is:
A couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to be in a music video my friend Jared Hogan shot and helped direct for local Charlotte artist John Mark McMillan. Man, talk about talent. It is amazing to watch these guys do what they love, and do it so well. I had such a blast working with some of my friends, as well as my brother – he was the production assistant. Good times all around!
My scene in the video was shot at Morning Glory Farm, my brother’s fiancee Maggie‘s (did ya get that?) family farm and home. They have a couple of horses on the farm, and they were also quickly featured in the video! (Seriously, I love horses..so, it’s even more rad to me.)
I absolutely love the concept of the video, the imagery, the message, the dancing, the song, I just love it all. But don’t take my word for it, check it out yourself below and enjoy! :)
