A Whole Lotta Love For Elemental Herbology

Processed with VSCOcam with a6 preset

Ahhh, Elemental Herbology, where shall I start? This company was inspired by the desire to balance and harmonize; the beauty of nature and the power of herbal medicine. Kristy Cimesa, Founder of Elemental Herbology, conceived EH to offer a unique skincare range, founded on the origins of the Five Elements.

What I love most about this company is not just their mantra, but their product ingredients. Not only are they herbal, but they are responsible for harvesting and the production of all raw materials used. They ensure their products are 100% free from synthetic fragrance, artificial colour, mineral oils, sulphates, parabens and preservatives – AND they combine therapeutic levels of Plant Compounds, Herbal Extracts, Essential Fatty Acids, Botanical Oils, Vitamins, Minerals and Anti-oxidants, so they can help your skin achieve a state of optimum health and vitality. So great!

I have three wonderful products that I’ve been loving that I would like to share with you all today. So let’s get started, shall we?

Sun Kiss: Body Hydrator With Self-Tan (click photo to bring you to link)

This is a great gradual (moisturizing) tanning product. However, be careful when using it because it’s super liquidy, which can result in a bit of a mess! The smell is very strong, not terrible, but very strong. I don’t really even know how to describe it..but, I do know that I will take it over any other (non-organic) sunless tanners. The way Elemental Herbology describes it is:

This daily body hydrator contains subtle levels of an eco-certified botanical self-tanning agent with ultra-nourishing, skin-softening oils to create a beautifully hydrated, natural and healthy glow whilst also helping to prolong the life of your tan. Its light texture allows the skin to breathe, whilst protecting the skin by boosting antioxidant activity and cooling, calming and nourishing over-exposed skin.

Here are some of the key ingredients:

  • Watermelon Seed Oil, also known as Kalahari Oil it is extracted from the seed of a watermelon which is prized for its high nutritive benefits, its light texture and intensive moisturizing capabilities. While ultra nourishing it is an ideal product for use during the summer months as it allows the skin ‘to breathe’.
  • Macadamia Oil contains the richest known source of Omega 7 Palmitoleic acid which helps replenish the skins naturally occurring lipids so that optimum hydration levels can be maintained.
  • Olive Oil rich in polyphenols, amino acid derivatives and powerful anti-oxidants it helps protect against environmental extremes and nourish and hydrate parched skin.
  • Pomegranate contains powerful antioxidants which help protect the skin against oxidative damage.
  • Fig extract rich in anti-oxidants is the ‘secret of Mediterranean women’ and helps fight against the damaging effects of the sun and environmental extremes. Rich in mucilages and more particularly sugars with softening and moisturizing activities. It helps comfort stressed skin, firms the tissues and intensively boosts hydration levels by preserving the cutaneous water balance.
  • Aloe Vera helps protect against oxidative damage making it highly beneficial for dry, cracked and parched skin. It is also helps cool and soothe the skin.
  • Lavender harmonizes sebum production, soothes sensitive skin and has an anti-bacterial effect.

I’d say that it’s pretty accurate in description. It really does work quickly, and will give you an overall natural looking tan. (No orange-fake-tan-look either) I have found myself applying it at night, and then in the morning I’ll take a shower to get rid of the smell. (Again, not terrible…just not my favourite scent!)

Neroli & Rose Damask Body Cream

Elemental Herbology’s Neroli & Rose Damask body cream. This is really, really moisturizing and very luxurious. It doesn’t immediately absorb into your skin, but I rather enjoy that because I can pop on my pj’s, get into bed and it feels as if I am having an overnight treatment mask for my body! The body cream is subtly fragranced with natural Orange Flower Water and Neroli aromas, which I enjoy very much!

Here are some of the key ingredients:

  • Mango Butter– intensely moisturizes
  • Organic Aloe– helps to soothe the skin
  • Magnolia, Lotus, and Soya help to improve the texture of skin.
  • Pure Rose Damask Water and ultra-nourishing botanicals restore optimum moisture and soothe sensitive skin.
  • Argan Oil, Rose Hip Oil and Ubuntu Ximenia help to restore hydration and improve the barrier function of the skin.

If you want a luxurious, pampering body cream, this one is well worth it!

Eye Elixir Eye Cream

This Eye Elixir is somethin’ else! I would recommended for anybody who is concerned about ageing, city dwellers, frequent flyers (great to use while flying) and for everybody with puffy and weary eyes. I find it also works really well to soothe my allergies (when my eyes get kind of red and itchy). Especially if you stick it in the fridge to get cold! It tingles around your eyes, but in a good way. It’s DIVINE!

EH describes this eye cream as:

Our triple-action, advanced eye-serum helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, puffiness and dark circles. Combining innovative cosmetic technology with active botanical ingredients, it will help to firm, tighten, lift and nourish the delicate eye region to transform weary, parched or weathered eyes.

Here are some of the key ingredients:

  • Patents
LANABLUE® (Blue Green Algae) helps stimulates collagen synthesis and repair.
EYELISS™ helps increase lymphatic circulation and improve firmness and elasticity.
    Kombuchka™ improves radiance.
  • Actives
Hematite helps increase collagen synthesis to firm and tone the skin.
Rose Water hydrates and soothes; Plant Peptides help to plump fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Bio-Oils
Macadamia Nut, Grapeseed and Lavender Oils help to nourish, soothe and soften the skin.
  • Aphanizomenon Flos Aquae, a Blue Green Algae, helps smooth and re-densify the epidermis.
Powerful Peptides combine to help prevent and fight “bags” under the eyes by decreasing the capillary permeability, increasing lymphatic circulation and improving firmness and elasticity.
  • A natural vegetable astringent obtained from Oak Apple gently firms the skin and strengthens cell structure resulting in the texture of the skin being visibly improved.
A plant based anti-ageing ingredient derived from Wheat Amino-Acids and Palmitic Acid helps create a natural ‘botox like effect’, combating the two main sources of wrinkles to smooth out lines and re-densify deep wrinkles.
  • Hematite and Kombuchka helps restore the radiance and tone of the skin.
  • L-Ascorbic Acid stimulates collagen growth to help reduce wrinkles and protect the skin against UVB and UVA damage.
  • Macadamia Nut Oil, Aloe Vera, Yerba Santa, Rose Water and Lavender Oil nourish, soften and soothe the delicate eye region.

Overall, this is an awesome eye crea-uhh-elixir… ;) So if you’re tired of all of the typical eye creams not doing their job, and just causing irritation – then this one is for you!

Innersense Organic Beauty

Processed with VSCOcam with a6 preset

In order for me to be posting about hair products…you must know, I’m SUPER picky – so, this is a big deal! It can be kind of difficult to find a truly organic, clean, non-toxic shampoo or conditioner that really cleans or even lathers well. Not to mention, protects colour treated hair, while adding shine and leaving your hair feeling soft and manageable.

Innersense Organic Beauty is my new favourite! I was super excited to try out their products, and post my quick lil mini-reviews on them. So, here are my thoughts on these three awesome hair care products!

Color Awakening Shampoo:

This is a gentle cleansing shampoo for color treated hair. Hand Crafted from Certified Organic and Bio Dynamic ingredients of coconut and palm oils, pumpkin seed and shea butter to provide luxurious cleansing. The lather is wonderful, and really does clean your hair thoroughly and gently. Sunflower Seed extracts, a natural anti-oxidant, protects color from fading and adds superb shine (seriously, it is amazing). It will leave your hair naturally clean, healthy and awakened without residue or dryness.

Key Ingredients

Color Radiance Daily Conditioner:

This conditioner will revitalize and nourish color treated hair with natural proteins, aromatic oils and flower essences. The formula of this conditioner is super lightweight and build up free (thank goodness, amirite?), so it moisturizes and strengthens the hair while providing resilience and shine. Sunflower Seed Oil protects color and keeps hair radiant. Also, it smells ABSOLUTELY DIVINE – like the most beautiful sweet flower field ever.

Key Ingredients

Sweet Spirit Leave-In Conditioner:

Sweet Spirit is a leave-in conditioner using a blend of natural oils, fragrant herbs and flower essences. A touch of honey adds body and manageability. Hair is perfectly balanced and ready for any style. Sweet Spirit can also be used on dry hair to revive and restyle. The natural Orange Blossom fragrance makes this a refreshing delight for the senses. Sweetness brings life into balance. (Basically, it’s the bomb.com)

Beauty Counter Love

Beautycounter’s Routine Clean Cream Cleanser + Lip Conditioner Calendula Balm

“To get safe products into the hands of everyone” – the motto of Beautycounter.  They’ve banned more than 1,500 ingredients, setting new health and safety standards. I’m super excited to share these two products today because, well, they’re awesome…but also, I love this line of products!

Beautycounter created an everyday Essentials Face Collection to address essential skin and body care needs. This line is safe, effective, and works well for all skin types, while being free of toxins and harmful chemicals. The essential skin care line can be used by anyone – women, men, and even kid. The majority of their products use coconut oil (stay awaaaaay, if you’re allergic!) and, the even greater news? They’re all formulated without parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, PEGs, SLS or “secret” ingredients. Yay!

So, let’s jump right in!

Routine Clean Cream Cleanser –  A facial cream cleanser gentle enough to be used both day and night. Organic coconut oil removes impurities and buildup. Aloe, green tea, witch hazel, and floral extracts promote the appearance of healthy, rejuvenated and toned skin. Purifying citrus oils add a refreshing scent.

How to use – Apply small amount onto face and rinse with water. Use with a warm wash cloth to remove cosmetics. I love this cleanser because it doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight or dry, whatsoever. Removing makeup was quick and easy, and it definitely made my skin look brighter and feel healthier!

Lip Conditioner Calendula Balm – A (superbly) moisturizing lip balm formulated with Avocado Oil, Shea Butter, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, and Jojoba Seed Oil, which all have intrinsically regenerative properties. The sweet smell of the balm comes from the Calendula Officinalis Flower Oil and Anthemis Nobilis Flower (Chamomile) Oil whose anti-inflammatory properties soothe irritated skin.

How to use – You can apply with fingers or lip brush. :)

IMPORTANT | AWESOME PROMO DEAL!

Definitely mention you want Carolyn Hendricks as your consultant at checkout of any Beautycounter purchase!

And, through the entire month of May…

If you spend between $75 – $149, you will receive a free Citrus Mimosa Hand Cream  (this moisturizer is AMAZING. perfect for keeping in your handbag for an extra dose of mid-day refreshment for your hands!). Gabriel Cosmetics – Zuzu Luxe Palette

Processed with VSCOcam with a6 preset

Zuzu Luxe “Peep Show” palette

If you’re in the market for a really awesome cruelty-free, gluten-free, and toxic-free neutral palette with a pop of colour (a sizzling gold/yellow shade) – this Zuzu Luxe “Peep Show” Palette by Gabriel Cosmetics is totally for you! It’s been a go-to for me lately, as I love the deeper bronzy/chocolate colours! I love a great summery palette and this one definitely achieves that sun-kissed, summer-look!

I really enjoy mixing and matching the super blendable shadows. I apply it with a dry brush for soft day time eye look, or I use a damp brush for a more bold, intense look. It’s however you wish to do it – I personally like to mix the two techniques! The whole palette contains natural ingredients including Titanium Dioxide which functions as a natural sun block. So, you’re not only making your eyes stand out, but you’re protecting them too in the process. Win/win!

The Zuzu Luxe Peep Show Palette comes with 4 different eyeshadow shades. They are:

Peep Show Shadow Colors
Amber – Sizzling Gold
Toasted – Warm Brown/shimmer
Velvet – Deep Brown/shimmer
Nude – Neutral Ivory

Peep Show Powder Color
Translucent – sheer setting powder that leaves skin with a flawless finish (this stuff does some serious mattefying of the skin too, if you have any shine!)

Peep Show Blush Color
Bitten – neutral red for perfectly flushed cheeks (almost as if someone pinched you – in a good way!)

Zuzu Luxe “Peep Show” palette: Nude all over the lid and inner corner of eyes.  Amber on the center of the lid and added more depth/saturation with damp brush.

All in all, I highly recommend picking up one of these palettes, whether it be Peep Show, or one of their other palettes Gabriel Cosmetics will not steer you the wrong way with their high quality, beautifully blendable and pigmented eye colours, blush and powder.

I am currently LOVING this new artist, Amber Bain. She goes by The Japanese House and this 19-year-old London-based singer is blowing me out of the water with her atmospheric 80’s-esque synths and warm, dream-pop sounds. They totally wash over you and make you feel like you’re standing in the middle of an ocean as waves crash in around you. Or, at least to me it does…check it out! ;)
