You know when you love a song so much, you put it on repeat and enjoy it until you seemingly can’t anymore? Well, Alima Pure‘s products have pretty much done that for me. I don’t even think I’d ever get tired of it…truly. The pigment, the ingredients, the overall packaging – THE QUALITY. Good heavens, you guys. They’re amazing. It not only feels great ON my skin, but I know that it is great FOR my skin, and body! If you’re keen on knowing more about what Alima Pure does, the heart and soul (plus ingredients) behind their organic products – read more HERE.

So, here we are again. Talkin’ lipsticks, blush and brush, this time. Some of the essentials that I can’t do without! The lipsticks seen above are “Georgia” and “Emma” (click on the link to see all six of their available gorgeous lip shades). I’ve also swatched them on my arm (below) and have as well posted pics of them on mah lipz (sorry, couldn’t help it). I am smitten with these cool toned pinky colours!
Georgia is the perfect vibrant raspberry shade. It stains the lips so beautifully that the colour lasts for hours! It’s quite the pop of colour on your lips! Super rockstar in my opinion. Not to mention it glides on smoothly and is a lovely velvety finish.
Emma is a lovelyneutral flushed pink. A bit more muted, for those of you who aren’t all about the pop of raspberry that Georgia provides. Just like its sister, Emma provides a long lasting and velvety smooth finish. I just adore it – adore these lipsticks!

As if those beauties above weren’t enough, let’s talk about how amazing their Satin Matte Blush in Mimosa is! The perfect flush of soft peachy rose! It, to me, almost acts as a bit of a bronzer because of the warmth the peachy tone lends to it. So beautiful!
I applied this gorgeous shade of blush with Alima’s #7 Half Moon Brush, the softest, most amazing little guy! It is the perfect size, easy to hold, and the silky tapered bristles make this brush ideal for blending, highlighting, and contouring. Also, the bristles are 100% cruelty-free Taklon fiber. The first moment I took this brush out of its packaging, I just ooh’d and ahh’d over how soft it was – probably one of the softest contouring/blush brushes I own!

So, let’s start off with the story behind One Love! The wonderful curators at Beauty Sage so eloquently stated:
“Founder Suzanne LeRoux first worked as a lawyer, but was constantly fascinated by alternative healing. So naturally, she started studying holistic nutrition, herbs and aromatherapy on the side to learn how to create simple products without preservatives.
Suzanne enlisted the help of her husband and childhood BFF—still the financial and creative brains of the operation today—and in 2010, One Love was born. Every formula in the skincare line is 100 percent natural, made with high-quality cold-pressed oils, and uses fair-trade ingredients wherever possible. No chemicals and preservatives— just simple, pure, effective products that work.”
I mean, there it is. Simply put. Products that are clean, simple, organic in their purest form – One Love Organics in a nutshell. Truly luxurious and simple, beautiful care for your skin.
Alright, so, typically I wouldn’t be posting a review unless I had at least five days to a week testing out a product. It’s only been about three days now that I’ve had these babies…HOWEVER, I am smitten with the results already! The way my skin feels, the way it glows! Just unbelievable! Of course, appearance isn’t just everything though – even if it IS skincare! I actually feel better, psychologically and emotionally. That may seem strange to some of you, but what I mean by that is that I am putting natural, whole and non-toxic ingredients on my face. I am actually NOURISHING it, instead of stripping it ‘clean’ of its natural properties. I have always struggled with combo/sensitive skin, drier in the winter months, oilier in the summer…as many, I suppose. These products, so far, have balanced my natural lipids and overall brightened, nourished, and smoothed out my skin. I can’t say enough great things!
Here are some of the products I’ve been using and adoring:
This is just the creme-de-la-creme of cleansing oils! Not to mention it doubles as a makeup remover. Gotta love a 2-in-1 skincare deal!
All you have to do to cleanse with this lovely concoction is warm about one-two pumps between your hands – I apply it in the palm of my hand and rub it around – then apply it to your dry face. You can either leave it on like that and use a makeup cotton square to remove it all, but I love massaging it in and really working it in all the little made-up crevices. I then add warm water and keep massaging it in, until it transforms into a beautiful milky consistency. Guys, it’s an experience! I then rinse clean, and in comes the Rose Clay Heart sponge! This little heart sponge is amazing! I dampen it in warm water until it softens, expands and doubles in its original size. I give my face a good run-over in circular motions to remove any excess dirt, rinse thoroughly and then hang to dry! Voila! Easy peasy.
Alrighty, so THIS serum…oof. I don’t even know if I could properly explain to you the amazing active ingredients and the magic they have on my skin. So, I’ll let One Love explain it, as they do so well on their site:
“This 100% active face serum uses a potent mix of antioxidants to naturally brighten and replenish skin for a more radiant, even-toned complexion. An ultra-concentrated combination of vitamins A, C, D, & E and antioxidants from organic green tea oil and supercritical sea buckthorn oil help protect against free radicals that can cause photo damage and skin discoloration. Rich in the rare fatty acid Omega 7 and Omega 3, 6, 9 fatty acids, this serum helps to restore moisture levels and helps to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.”
Yep. I know..amazing, right? All I need is about three pumps of this stuff and I’m set. Gently massaging the crap out of my face, cus it LOVES IT AND SOAKS IT IN. Food for your skin, ya’ll. It’s real, and it works.
ATTENTION ALL WOMEN! This serum is youth in a bottle! I kid you not. Miraculous product right here!
“..watermelon seed oil to smooth, dissolve build-up and provide a rich composition of essential fatty acids, Bulgarian Rose Oil to tone and moisturize, and clinically proven D’Orientine S (the S stands for sshh! secret) to help protect skin from environmental sources of aging and wrinkling.”
How could you NOT want that? I mean, had I not even read what it did – the results would have been enough for me. It legitimately works wonders…my skin is just smoother, brighter, younger and happier (even though I am only 27 – now is the time to preserve it ladies!). Have I mentioned it’s a breeze to use too? Simple care is what I’m all about! No crazy gloves, or annoying spatulas and kits. All I do is dispense a small amount of this youth in a bottle (can I rebrand this? Haha..) and apply it to my clean, damp skin, every night before bedtime. Fool proof, really. You just gotta try it!
There you have it. One Love Organics. Blowing my mind, as you clearly can see! I can’t wait to continue using these amazing products, not to mention, I’ll DEFINITELY be adding on to my collection in the near future!
Thank you for all you do, One Love Organics! I truly appreciate your holistic, simple, organic and honest approach in skincare. Oh, and Happy Easter Weekend, everyone!
I’m aware, I’m aware…I’ve been gone for FOREVER. Like, really, forever…it’s been way too long. BUT, in the process of this little M.I.A ordeal (not the singer, the acronym), I have had time to really plan on where I’ve been wanting this blog to go to next. Next? Like, i.e.:
See, that’s what I’ve been struggling with! CONTENT. Content that I actually feel excited to post about, excited to share and talk about! Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE MUSIC (duh..it’s muh life). However, I also love beauty. Cosmetics. Skincare. Pharmaceuticals. Makeup reviews. Makeup tips…etc, etc. I have a passion for it. It’s kinda outta control sometimes….but hey, that’s what passion is right? Errr…right.
As you all know (or may know), I am a freelance makeup artist (weddings, fun styled shoots etc). So, makeup is something I actually do on occasion. I love it! It’s a chance for me to use my artistic talents, think outside of the box, play around, relax (it’s therapeutic for me) and have fun. If there is one thing any of my friends or family would tell you about me, it’d be that I am a walking mini store (and possibly even encyclopedia) for makeup, lipsticks, and other beauty products. I constantly have swatches on my hand or arm, two or more lipsticks in my purse – actually, I think at one point I may have had like a whole mini case FULL of lipsticks and glosses (11 to be exact). I love giving advice on how to apply makeup, what to wear…what not to wear, what’s healthy for your skin, what isn’t so healthy and so on. Again, like I said, PASSION. It’s real.
(Just me being artsy..don’t worry about it.)
So, alas, here we are. Where are you going with this Sammie, you may ask? Exactly where I want to. This blog will be filled with beauty items, reviews, photos of #whatsinmypurse, #makeuptipswithsammie, occasional giveaways, tips on what to look for when purchasing makeup, tips on how to save money while doing so, luxury items, quality items, organic and holistic care (cus LAWD knows I love me some of that) and THEN – BAM – your classic A Musical Mind playlist of sorts to go along with the mood of the day/week/month! Or, just my faves at the moment. Implementing the two things I love and am passionate about: makeup and music. What could be better? Makeup, music and unending sushi? Duh. Okay, okay, but really. Hope you all like what’s comin’ for ya! I’m excited. Stay tuned, kids. The best is yet to come!
P.s. Speaking of music…here’s one of my favourite songs at the moment! A rad band from Bristol, England by the name of Meadowlark. Good stuff, good stuff!
Shadow: I did a soft winged eyeliner, (mix of black liquid liner and brown pencil smudged out a bit, on the bottom lash line as well) with a couple of different brown/neutral shimmery eyeshadows on the lids. I tight-lined with a black eye pencil, and lined the waterline with the same brown pencil used on upper and lower lash line.
In the tear ducts and below the waterline along the brown pencil, I put a Japanese gel – intensely silvery/glittery – liner. I can’t remember the brand. I also put a bit of The Balm Mary Lou Manizer in the tear ducts to brighten it even more.
Cheeks: Lightly contoured with MacHarmony (in their blushes). On apples of cheeks, I applied Mac’s Modern Mandarin to create a rosy, flush cheek.
Highlight: The BalmMary Lou Manizer on bridge and ball of nose, cheekbones, lightly on the temples and cupids bow (above the lip line). I also applied some of the highlighter to the highest point of her eyelid to bounce off light and glow even more.
So, this isn’t music related – sue me – but I just HAD to post these awesome photos taken by the talented Brooke Smith! It was a fun freestyle shoot that I had the opportunity to do makeup on! Lizzy Rivera did hair, cus she’s a hair wizard. The beautiful Coryn modeled, and well, it was a blast! Such a great team of women. Here, let the photos speak for themselves!
