Today’s playlist is not of my own but of a very talented Brizzy (Brisbane) beat maker and remixer Callan Alexander, aka “CLN“. I love the vibeyness to his remixes, not to mention a great pick of songs. So, here ya go! Enjoy! :)
Hey my lovely music-heads! Happy Monday! I hope you enjoy today’s playlist cus there’s another awesome one comin’ your way Thursday! Except it won’t be on here! It’ll be on Sound Blanket’s site! I’m super pumped about it and can’t wait for you all to check it out.
I had the opportunity to host an hour and a half of awesome music and rambling about said awesome music. Yep. I loved doing it, and I love sharing all this music with you even more! YAY LOVE, YAY MUSIC!
You guys, I am beyond excited to share this AMAZING track that my friend Tim, also known as the talented DJ CUBBY put out yesterday!
It was debuted in the The Fader, and so far, I cannot get enough of it. I probably have listened to the song about 25 times since yesterday. I’m probably not even exaggerating. It’s THAT good. I’m pretty speechless, and so, in this case, my explanation of this song is probably going to be all over the place – I love it, it’s unreal, the beats…the lyrics, the soundddddd gahhhhh – hahaha. SO, Fader does the perfect job of explaining the flawless sounds you will be listening to:
“Even before Current’s falsetto hook drops on this first missive from NYC producer Cubby, it’s hard not to feel pretty smitten with the sound of the drums alone—the textural splay of the brush sounds, the just-a-little-too-slow snare. It’s a fittingly drowsy foundation for a song about the stupor-like state we can fall into over the course of a protracted winter like this one, split between the calm, dull pleasures of a time when life [is] slow, nights [are] boring and the feeling that you want to sleep in instead of going to work in the morning but you have to brave the slush and keep grinding because your rent’s past due. In fact, those are some of the literal scenarios described by the rapper Kwane, starting off all drawling and sluggish before eventually taking a dramatic left-turn into the suppressed anger that comes with a really bad case of cabin fever.”
I mean, c’mon…now you HAVE to listen to it! ;) So, without further adieu, here it is:
If you follow me on any of my social medias or are my friend on Facebook (or real life), then you have an inkling who NoiseFloor is. If you do not, well, I believe today is your lucky day. It is longoverdue, and about time that I let you in on this trio of amazing DJ’s.
NoiseFloor is Nashville/NYC based Donald Landphair, Nathan Brown and Ben Keith. These talented guys produce deep house, electro, future bass music, hip hop and drum & bass sounds. AND THEY’RE GOOD. LIKE, REALLY GOOD. If you don’t believe me, just check out their most recent project, 2014 Deep House Winter Mix, by the talented Nathan Brown. It is one of my favourites to this date.
NoiseFloor has been making magic together since ’99 and has the honour of holding international production credits which include releases on EMI France, Proper/ Improper Talent, Tharsis Records and Big Fish Recordings. NoiseFloor recently rose to no. 5 on the drum and bass charts for “The Noisefloor EP” on the legendary DJ Raps label “Propa Talent”. They still continue to receive well-deserved radio and international club play. Plus, I know that whether they’re mixing in the studio, DJ’ing a party or event, or I’m just listening to their stuff all alone – I am ALWAYS dancing.
“We have produced remixes for some of our favorite artists.” says NoiseFloor. “Five Knives, Jamie Lidell, Yelawolf, Trinidad Jame$, Kink Ador, Cherub, Wick-it and more.”
I highly suggest giving NoiseFloor’s SoundCloud a listen, as well as check out a fun music video I was featured in for their original drum & bass track “MY HEART ft. Angel”. (I will post it below!)
