A matte lipstick that’s organic?! I know, FINALLY, right?! I’ve had a handful of ladies ask me about a matte lipstick that contains safe ingredients, and preforms. In the green beauty world, there are few and far between. But, alas, here we have them! 100% Pure has put out a new Semi-Matte Lipstick (even though it says semi, I see it more of a “matte” on its own) that is made with mostly organic butters and fruits – but how did they get them to apply matte, you ask? Read more to find out, including my thoughts** on these deliciously gorgeous lippies!
I’ve had so many inquiries lately on my skincare routine – I’ve shared it with a few in e-mails, direct messages or even within my Instagram comments…but it’s about time I let you all in on it. ;) So, this is the first post of a two-part skincare series. Today, I’ll be covering my morning skincare routine!
It’s been a little while since I fully reviewed (on here) one of my favourite Beauty Boxes…since November actually! If you’re new to Petit Vour, well you’re in for a treat! This monthly subscription box is really special! It not only lets you in on some amazing non-toxic, vegan, and cruelty-free beauty products…but for only $15, each box comes packed with four deluxe-sized (and sometimes full-sized) products. It’s an awesome deal, and you’ll discover some awesome new brands that are safe for your face, body and more! Oh, and of course it comes with the cutest little description card, describing all of the products within the box – along with the perfect illustration by Mia Charro. Win/win!
Just in case you’re completely new to this and don’t feel like clicking on the links I so GRACIOUSLY put…haha, jk…I’ll give ya a little run-down! Every month one of these pretty pink boxes you see above arrives in my mailbox! It’s full of luxurious, non-toxic, vegan beauty goodies for me to try out. In every box received, you’ll get 4-5 decently sized products. Sometimes they’re sample sized, sometimes regular sized! However, for the just $15 a box, I’d say that’s a pretty great deal!
This month’s Petit Vour box included:
Meow Meow Tweet Face Cleanser
This is a gentle, yet effective everyday cream cleanser. Its ingredients include organic plant oils, wild harvested witch hazel and a touch of castile soap to lift away impurities while providing protective nutrients and leaving my face refreshed and soft. It’s super fresh smelling and it has a great blend of restorative essential oils to combat blemishes and tone the skin. I don’t typically use it at night, just because I find that it won’t remove makeup very well, and I like more of a lather to really get off all my makeup. However, I do enjoy using this in the morning! It gently cleanses my face without stripping the skin of it’s vital moisture – it’s kind of like an oil cleanser that rinses off.
100% Pure Facial Cleansing Brush
This Cleanser Brush gently exfoliates, eliminating dirt, makeup, dead skin cells and surface pollutants. It is made with extremely soft and gentle synthetic fibers that will exfoliate your skin while you clean, giving skin a beautiful, refreshed glow.
Jacq’s Organic Green Smoothie Scrub Mask
This Scrub Mask is suitable for normal, aging, sensitive, oily & combination skin types & ANY hair type. It contains activated bamboo charcoal that draws dirt and oils out of pores, improves skin texture and absorbs odors. It has some of mother nature’s best clays including rhassoul, activated bamboo charcoal and bentonite.
Some of its key ingredients are: Sea kelp, which is an anti-inflammatory and a natural source of vitamin A, B1, B2, C, D and E. Tamanu oil, which is hydrating and helps to regenerate skin cells. The mask is also rich in fatty acids to reduce the risk of acne and fights free radicals with its antioxidant properties all found in almond meal, and is rich in iodine to combat free radicals and to help keep skin nourished and moisturized.
FiOR Minerals Organic Eyeliner in Brown Sugar
This eyeliner is a rich chocolate brown, with a semi-matte finish. It is 100% natural and vegan, and made with certified organic antioxidants and soothing ingredients, gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin. This pencil is perfect for smudged out smoky eyes, in no time! The creamy moisturizing nutrient-filled formula was designed not to tug or pull on the eye, and it really does the job! (I can’t stand pulling or tugging – who does?!) I really love that this pencil is free of harsh chemicals, dyes, parabens, GMO’s and toxic ingredients.
I can’t wait to see what July’s box holds! :) If you would like to learn more or sign up, it’s super easy! Just head on over to the Petit Vour site to get started, don’t forget that you can cancel at any time! (NO PRESSURE!)

Oh Wonder – True Blood
This look is super easy, and always complimenting of all skin tones.
Step 1: Moisturize + Prime
I’m pretty combination so I like to focus on keeping my t-zone fairly free of moisturizer unless it is a mattefying one. Ursa Major’s Face Balm is my favourite right now, with the highest quality ingredients, a little goes a long way! I especially love how light it feels on my skin, refreshing and cool – plus it mattifies my face wonderfully. If I am more dry, I’ll use One Love Organic’s Vitamin C Facial Serum – my favourite! Brightening and moisturizing and so, so good for your skin! Primer is not always something I apply, if I’m going for a lighter, fresher look, I typically skip it. But, if I want a more flawless, concealed look – it does wonders at keeping makeup put and on for awhile! Do what is most comfortable and what suits your skin type best.
Step 2: Brows
Fill in your brows, if you feel that they are sparse in some areas. I love using a brow wax/pomade, EcoBrow in Rita, in particular. It’s like Anastasia’s DipBrow Pomade, but free of all of the parabens and other chemicals. If you’ve got a great set of brows, then girl…rock it. (Also, I may be jealous!)
Step 3: Mascara
I like quite a lashy look for this bright-eyed effect we’re going for! The lashier, the better. Oh, and curling my lashes is KEY for me – such a game changer. But, again, it’s what you feel comfortable with. My go-to mascara right now, and probably favourite mascara ever is the 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Mascara in Black Tea. Ladies…it not only does an amazing job at lift and curl, but it holds well AND smells sweet (like fruits, haha)!
Step 4: Conceal
This isn’t super necessary unless, like me, you’ve got some blue/purply under eye bags..or any little spots you want to hide. For me, concealing is important. It not only brightens up this look (any look, really), it keeps the canvas clean and fresh. RMS’ “Un” Cover-Up is killer for achieving a great conceal – and it doubles as a foundation too (warms up and literally melts onto your skin)!
Step 5: Blush
You want a natural flush, glowy, rosy cheek kind of situation to be happening here…so, pick your favourite ‘cheeky’ shade and apply on the apples of your cheeks. Alima Pure’s Satin Matte Blush in Mimosa is my favourite for achieving that ‘blushing from within’ look.
Step 6: Highlight
Again, not necessary, but I love me a good highlight! It gives you a soft, radiant, glowy look – and who wouldn’t want that? I know I do! I used the ever so loved bareMinerals Flawless Radiance for this look.
Step 6: Lips
Lip balm, lip tint, lipstick…how about all three of them in one? I’m obsessed with Kjaer Weis’ Lip Tint in Romance – a vibrant reddish pink tone (almost coral) that gives you that pop of colour you want for this bright, fun look!
And that’s all, folks! Have fun with this look, there is no “right” or “wrong” way to rock it. If you feel confident and happy, do it up!
Hope you’re having a great night. Here’s a little tune I’m digging right now by the band Unknown Mortal Orchestra – I hope you like! Thanks for dropping by and I’ll see you soon. Xo
