Aleavia: Relieve Your Skin

Processed with VSCOcam with a6 preset

I recently came across this skincare line that claimed to balance the pH of the skin and act as emollients or conditioners for the skin. The entire line, working in a “positive manner with the body’s bio-system to aid in skin restoration, which expedites the recovery and repair of skin from various unpleasant and unattractive skin conditions.” That was pretty impressive to me, and so, I dived right in to see if what these skincare products claimed to do was true.

Aleavia‘s products are alkaloid based bio-stimulants which actually feed a wide variety of friendly microorganisms on the skin causing the healthy bacteria to go into a feeding frenzy. This ultimately results in much higher activity levels of normal friendly bacteria. Over a short period of time, the “good guys” will completely overwhelm any harmful bacteria, virtually eliminating skin disorders of many types. These skin care products accomplish this on a molecular level using a combination of 100%-natural, organic, and environmentally safe ingredients.

Pretty great, right? I mean, why subject your skin to any sort of harsh chemical or toxic ingredient? Aleavia has been such a Godsend to me. Simple, cleansing, soothing, restoring and refreshing. I’ve been loving it!

Immerse Lavender Prebiotic Soothing Body Wash

Boy, was I ever impressed (still am) with this extremely moisturizing, and calming body wash. You know, I remember back in the day when I’d use a generic body wash (full of terrible ingredients) that claimed a lot of these same properties, but wasn’t living up to the hype. I’d wonder why my body felt super dry and almost “squeaky”…not realizing I had stripped it completely void of any natural and beneficial body oils. This body wash does exactly the opposite and is amazing and definitely leaves me smelling lovely, fresh and feeling smooth and clean.

Cleanse Prebiotic Neutralizing Facial Cleanser and Makeup Remover

No lie, my hands-down, favourite facial cleanser right now! When I want a serious cleanse from a full-face of makeup – this is it.

It’s hard to find an organic, chemical-free, natural oil based cleanser that does the job of completely getting off ALL makeup. Sometimes it’s tough because there isn’t enough lather, or you feel like you need to really “wipe” all of what’s left, off with a cloth or something. The best thing about Cleanse is it is 100% organic, and it removes make up quickly and entirely, all in one wash. Seriously, the best facial cleanser I’ve come across yet.

Restore Prebiotic Skin Restoration

This…spray…is…awesome! It was specifically created to take unhealthy skin and restore it back to healthier conditions. Of course, with all natural ingredients, the Restore spray is truly..well, restorative, ha. It not only can be used on your face and body, but your scalp as well. Lord knows with all the crazy ingredients in hair care products I’ve used year after year, prior to detoxing my skin/body care, my scalp needs some healing! It can tend to be dry, sometimes itchy, so I welcome any organic/clean hair care product that claims to soothe and restore.

Lately, after I shower, I towel dry my hair and section off some front pieces (where I get most dry) and spray it with Restore. It immediately feels refreshed and soothes any irritation I may still have – I’ve definitely noticed a difference! Along with the uses mentioned above, this spray is also great for those with rosacea, eczema, acne or scarring.

Restore Prebiotic Skin Restoration

I really do love this whole organic skincare/body care line and recommend it to anyone and everyone! The simple, prebiotic ingredients are seriously amazing and I can personally say that I am very happy with the results. I will continue to use Aleavia and look forward to healthier, happier skin!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Playlist No. 42

GUYS! HAPPY NEW YEAR! Holy whirlwind of life….I have been non-stop. Not to mention, January 1st was A Musical Mind‘s ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY!? Wow. Amazing. I can’t begin to thank everyone for tuning in, staying super dedicated with following me and my crazy musical journey. Discovering new bands, music, shows, and more.. It means the world, and I am so grateful for you all! I definitely am guilty of not posting a whole bunch anymore, and having all the reasons why…but ya know, whatever. It happens – and hey, I’m here now! ;)

So, let’s get right into today’s playlist! I’ve been recently obsessed with this Seattle/NY based band: MDE IN HEIGHTS! Their dreamy, euphoric r&b-pop is melodic, enchanting and just plain mesmerizing. I can’t seem to get enough.

Some songs, you can listen to passively and completely forget about them…there are some that resonate with you, but only for a couple of minutes or so, after which they seem to disappear into the atmosphere. Then, there are songs that resonate through your whole body and when they end you dissolve with it. MDE IN HEIGHTS does exactly this to me, and hopefully to you too.

These tracks hit you. They captivate you. In the perfect moment, with the perfect emotion tagging along. This track, “Skylark Interabang?!, is one of those tracks.

Kelsey Bulkin‘s ethereal vocals float over Sufjan Stevens’ beautiful sample of “Concerning the UFO Sighting Near Highland, Illinois”. The track starts off simply with the Sufjan sample. Not only is this one of my favourite Sufjan songs, but with Bulkin’s soft, dreamy vocals…their sounds just melt together in an angelic, delicious concoction.

So, check ’em out below. I posted 7 of my favourite tracks at the moment and I’m sure I’ll post another playlist soon with more of their tracks I love!

Enjoy! And have the happiest Monday! xo

Playlist No. 35 + Volcano Crowe

Hello dear friends!

Here’s my (late again, I know…I’m so sorry) Playlist for the week! I know I haven’t been that great with posts lately, but I’ve been in the middle of moving and lots of transition and change. It’s all so great!

Also, my pal Zac Farro of Halfnoise dropped his full-length LP: Volcano Crowe today! It’s a MUST HEAR. Seriously, sooooo stinkin’ good. The melodies, the harmonies, the instruments, the percussion….goodness, all so brilliant. You can go check it out on Bandcamp by clicking the album cover below!

Have a lovely Tuesday! xx

Ryan Adams Self-Titled. Yes, It Is Hype Worthy

So, I haven’t stopped hearing and seeing all this chitter-chatter about Ryan Adams newest album which is Self-Titled. It dropped just this past Monday and this extremely talented American singer-songwriter has now released his FOURTEENTH studio album! FOURTEENTH! Guys..that’s almost half my age!

Let’s be honest, Adams never ceases to make amazing music. He has talent for daaaays. However, let me just state one thing. This album is not your happy, go-lucky, life is wonderful kind of album. It is definitely a lot more moody than his other ones. Concentrating on hardships, broken-heartedness and pain. The lyrics are somber, and I don’t think there’s an actual happy song on the record – which to some (optimists), could be be a downer. I myself am an optimist, however the musical genius behind these “love lost”, downcast tracks cover up most of it for me. So, no, I’m not bothered by it one bit – I mean, it’s a bummer, of course, to feel all the emotion in these tracks and know that it’s real. Real pain, real experiences and feelings – but, Adams has lured me in with his melodic ballads and bursts of electric guitar riffs. They’re catchy, passionate and raw, and I love that. I personally think that a lot of it is super reminiscent of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers – which, let’s be real – who doesn’t love them!?

My top 3 tracks on the album would have to be Track 1, “Gimme Something Good“, Track 2, “Kim“, and Track 5 “Wrecking Ball“. All of the tracks are great, but these are just my picks. I’d love to know your favourites in the comments!

So there you have it. My two cents on the album. But, you can read more on LA Times, here, or NPR, here...or Treble, here.

Also, follow Ryan Adams on Twitter, SoundCloud, Like him on Facebook and go buy his album on iTunes!

Thanks, have a wonderful rest of your week! Xx

LONG LIVE Devan Dubois, “Le Fou”

Hey guys! Welcome to my special Tuesday post, which I’m super excited about! My Nashville friend, Devan Dubois (with Sensibility Music) just released a new full-length album today called “Le Fou” and it’s amazing! Truly a work of art. It’s currently available on iTunes, and you all should go buy it.

Devan, not too long ago, was featured in Nylon Magazine, along with his LONG LIVE music video which you can view below. Want some more info and background on him? Well, he was also interviewed in UK’s Far Out Magazine, which can be read here aaaaand he was interviewed in BEAT Magazine, which can be read heeeere!

So basically, I shouldn’t need to write or say much – cus the articles, and especially his music, will do the talking. All in all, he is a friend of many talents. A visual and musical kaleidoscope, if you will. Nylon said it best in their article:

You can’t deny that black and white music videos add a level of cool, but when you pair that with some trippy visuals, your eyes will be glued to the screen. His southern roots shine through as his folky guitar rhythms are accompanied by some hip-hop drums– two styles we love and go perfectly together.

So, here you go. Watch it. Love it. Buy it. Share it. Thank you! Xo
