I know, I know…it’s been awhile – I’ve been royally slacking. I have no excuse. Just haven’t been good about updating and posting new content. My bad, my bad. But, that cat above makes it all better right? RIGHT.
So, anyways, moving forward….remember that time I got to do a radio show for a local station here in Charlotte? Finally, it has been posted to Sound Blanket’s website’s newly updated page. I’m super stoked! It was a blast to do, and I am really thankful that SB was gracious enough to let me host my very own radio show on their site. My favourite tunes, and a bit of fun chitter chatter in between. I loved doing it, and would love to host another one again in the near future for sure!
So sit back, relax and enjoy this mellow radio talk show host voice of mine……oh, and the music, duh! ;)
(Here’s one of the promo pics from the radio show!)
What’s uppppppp!? It’s Wednesday, it’s sunshiney and 70 – perfect fall weather…so, what better way to celebrate that than with a good ‘ole mix of some new tracks from the wonderful Grace Mitchell and Mateja! ENJOY! xx
Here’s my (late again, I know…I’m so sorry) Playlist for the week! I know I haven’t been that great with posts lately, but I’ve been in the middle of moving and lots of transition and change. It’s all so great!
Also, my pal Zac Farro of Halfnoise dropped his full-length LP: Volcano Crowe today! It’s a MUST HEAR. Seriously, sooooo stinkin’ good. The melodies, the harmonies, the instruments, the percussion….goodness, all so brilliant. You can go check it out on Bandcamp by clicking the album cover below!
Happy Monday everyone! I am currently laying on the couch trying to get some work done (stayed home today), tea in hand, tissue box beside me and essential oils readily available, because I have the worst cold right now. Ugh. It’s pretty sucky, but I’ll be okay – I’m a tough cookie! ;)
So, this playlist is just some of what I’ve been listening to lately and all this morning. Actually, I just adore Sun Kil Moon and listen to him a lot. But recently, they’ve been on heavy rotation. Anyway, here’s today’s “Sick Day” Playlist. Lots of beautiful classical guitar sounds and somber melodies. Enjoy! Xo
So, I haven’t stopped hearing and seeing all this chitter-chatter about Ryan Adams newest album which is Self-Titled. It dropped just this past Monday and this extremely talented American singer-songwriter has now released his FOURTEENTH studio album! FOURTEENTH! Guys..that’s almost half my age!
Let’s be honest, Adams never ceases to make amazing music. He has talent for daaaays. However, let me just state one thing. This album is not your happy, go-lucky, life is wonderful kind of album. It is definitely a lot more moody than his other ones. Concentrating on hardships, broken-heartedness and pain. The lyrics are somber, and I don’t think there’s an actual happy song on the record – which to some (optimists), could be be a downer. I myself am an optimist, however the musical genius behind these “love lost”, downcast tracks cover up most of it for me. So, no, I’m not bothered by it one bit – I mean, it’s a bummer, of course, to feel all the emotion in these tracks and know that it’s real. Real pain, real experiences and feelings – but, Adams has lured me in with his melodic ballads and bursts of electric guitar riffs. They’re catchy, passionate and raw, and I love that. I personally think that a lot of it is super reminiscent of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers – which, let’s be real – who doesn’t love them!?
My top 3 tracks on the album would have to be Track 1, “Gimme Something Good“, Track 2, “Kim“, and Track 5 “Wrecking Ball“. All of the tracks are great, but these are just my picks. I’d love to know your favourites in the comments!
So there you have it. My two cents on the album. But, you can read more on LA Times, here, or NPR, here...or Treble, here.
