Inspiring Interviews Series II: Anastacia Skin Studio + My Experience with Micropigmentation

Who doesn’t enjoy some well-deserved skin lovin’? I love interviewing indie business owners! Each person has a moment in their life when they’re forced to make a decision and they choose the path most difficult – simply because they dream bigger than they live. Anastacia’s Skin Studio is Nashville’s best known hot-spot for organic spray tanning, waxing, micropigmentation (aka microblading) and more! Stace (Anastacia) and I have been friends for almost 5 years or so and I’ve seen her business grow incredibly well. She’s an amazing business woman and friend..plus she totally knows what she’s doing. She literally geeks out over the science behind skin and the cosmetic aspects of it..I mean, I trusted her to microblade my brows! You don’t just let anyone do that! ;)

Maya Water Facial Mists: A Breath of Fresh Air For Your Skin

IMG_8184-2

Haaaaappy Monday lovelies! It’s been awhile. Between prepping for marriage, the actual wedding, the honeymoon and getting back and settled into my new home with my new HUSBAND…things have been a bit hectic! But I’m here, aren’t I? :)

Today’s post is something I’ve really grown to appreciate and love. A facial mist! But not just any facial mist…Maya Water Facial Mist: a clean, mineral-rich and pH neutral thermal spa water mist from Skogshorn in Hemsedal, Norway. I mean…you had me at Norway! But in all seriousness, this unique, high-end facial mist truly does wonders to the skin. With added active antioxidants ranging from white tea, goji and acai. It revitalizes, protects and cleanses dry, tired skin. Who needs that? I do! Especially with my recent traveling to Paris for our honeymoon – an 8 hour flight there – my skin was parched. I sprayed a little of the White Tea Mist and I felt refreshed, dewy and even recharged!

Passionate About Prtty Peaushun

prttypeashun

Being from Canada, and a mix of British, Irish and Italian, there wasn’t very much room for a nice glow – especially in the winter. I also inherited my British/Irish genes of pale skin, freckles and easily burnt skin (if not protected). **Thankfully, because of my Italian blood, I do tan better after a base/slight burn ha.** Anyways, what I’m trying to say is that I not only love the beach, but long for waves, sand and sunshine. I adore the freckly, beachy, sun-kissed glow it imparts! Sadly, it’s fall now and the beach days are over. (SOB) However, I just received this wonderful product from Prtty Peaushun (Pronounced “Pretty Potion”) and have been blown away by it!

Wanna Win Naturopathica’s Amazing Gotu Kola Healing Balm Giveaway!?

Who loves moisturized, healed and healthy, supple, rich, buttery skin? I do, I do! Naturopathica is not only one of my all-time favourite skincare lines, but I have been using their Chamomile Cleansing Milk for about a year now, and I cannot get enough! But that’s another post for another time..haha. I want to introduce you to their miraculous Gotu Kola Healing Balm!

This balm is one of a kind! It blends the healing properties of Gotu Kola and Calendula with Raspberry Ceramides to help deeply repair dry, devitalized skin from head to toe. It is perfect to use under facial moisturizer for a flawless complexion or to enhance elasticity and prevent stretch marks during pregnancy. I personally love it for my extremely dry areas, such as my knees, heels, elbows and cuticles – but it has multiple uses!

Here’s a breakdown of the wonderful ingredients it contains:

GOTU KOLA: Modern herbalists recognize this plant for its strong wound-healing abilities, since it increases the level of antioxidants in newly formed tissue. Clinical studies show that Gotu Kola may inhibit the inflammatory process and aids in the wound-healing process by stimulating collagen synthesis and increasing tensile strength of newly formed skin.

CALENDULA: The anti-inflammatory activity of Calendula officinalis, especially in the treatment of skin disorders has been demonstrated is a study of radiation-induced dermatitis for the treatment of breast cancer. A 2001 study in France compared topical Calendula officinalis with the topical drug Trolamine and found that those subjects receiving the Calendula officinalis ointment experienced less erythema and edema as well as radiation-induced pain.²

RASPBERRY CERAMIDES: Rich in Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, Raspberry Ceramides are some of the most effecitve modern ingredient technologies, helping reinforce a healthy skin barrier for improved skin strength and hydration.

ALL INGREDIENTS/INCI: Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Essential Oil, Silica, Lauroyl Lysine, Garcinia Indica (Kokum) Seed Butter, Mica, Raspberry Seed Oil/Palm Oil Aminopropanediol esters (Raspberry Ceramides 6 & 3), Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) Fruit Extract, Tocopherol, Centella Asiatica (Gotu Kola) Leaf Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Hypericum Perforatum (St. John's Wort) Flower & Leaf Extract, Carmine CI (75470), Titanium Dioxide CI Number 77891, Iron Oxide (CI 77491)

For centuries, Indian women have relied on the healing properties of Gotu Kola, passing recipes down from generation to generation. This versatile, moisturizing balm captures their secret to beautiful skin. I want all of the amazing, healing ingredients this balm possesses! Along with all the secrets to beauty, and if you do too, read more to enter into my giveaway with Naturopathica and…

Aleavia: Relieve Your Skin

Processed with VSCOcam with a6 preset

I recently came across this skincare line that claimed to balance the pH of the skin and act as emollients or conditioners for the skin. The entire line, working in a “positive manner with the body’s bio-system to aid in skin restoration, which expedites the recovery and repair of skin from various unpleasant and unattractive skin conditions.” That was pretty impressive to me, and so, I dived right in to see if what these skincare products claimed to do was true.

Aleavia‘s products are alkaloid based bio-stimulants which actually feed a wide variety of friendly microorganisms on the skin causing the healthy bacteria to go into a feeding frenzy. This ultimately results in much higher activity levels of normal friendly bacteria. Over a short period of time, the “good guys” will completely overwhelm any harmful bacteria, virtually eliminating skin disorders of many types. These skin care products accomplish this on a molecular level using a combination of 100%-natural, organic, and environmentally safe ingredients.

Pretty great, right? I mean, why subject your skin to any sort of harsh chemical or toxic ingredient? Aleavia has been such a Godsend to me. Simple, cleansing, soothing, restoring and refreshing. I’ve been loving it!

Immerse Lavender Prebiotic Soothing Body Wash

Boy, was I ever impressed (still am) with this extremely moisturizing, and calming body wash. You know, I remember back in the day when I’d use a generic body wash (full of terrible ingredients) that claimed a lot of these same properties, but wasn’t living up to the hype. I’d wonder why my body felt super dry and almost “squeaky”…not realizing I had stripped it completely void of any natural and beneficial body oils. This body wash does exactly the opposite and is amazing and definitely leaves me smelling lovely, fresh and feeling smooth and clean.

Cleanse Prebiotic Neutralizing Facial Cleanser and Makeup Remover

No lie, my hands-down, favourite facial cleanser right now! When I want a serious cleanse from a full-face of makeup – this is it.

It’s hard to find an organic, chemical-free, natural oil based cleanser that does the job of completely getting off ALL makeup. Sometimes it’s tough because there isn’t enough lather, or you feel like you need to really “wipe” all of what’s left, off with a cloth or something. The best thing about Cleanse is it is 100% organic, and it removes make up quickly and entirely, all in one wash. Seriously, the best facial cleanser I’ve come across yet.

Restore Prebiotic Skin Restoration

This…spray…is…awesome! It was specifically created to take unhealthy skin and restore it back to healthier conditions. Of course, with all natural ingredients, the Restore spray is truly..well, restorative, ha. It not only can be used on your face and body, but your scalp as well. Lord knows with all the crazy ingredients in hair care products I’ve used year after year, prior to detoxing my skin/body care, my scalp needs some healing! It can tend to be dry, sometimes itchy, so I welcome any organic/clean hair care product that claims to soothe and restore.

Lately, after I shower, I towel dry my hair and section off some front pieces (where I get most dry) and spray it with Restore. It immediately feels refreshed and soothes any irritation I may still have – I’ve definitely noticed a difference! Along with the uses mentioned above, this spray is also great for those with rosacea, eczema, acne or scarring.

Restore Prebiotic Skin Restoration

I really do love this whole organic skincare/body care line and recommend it to anyone and everyone! The simple, prebiotic ingredients are seriously amazing and I can personally say that I am very happy with the results. I will continue to use Aleavia and look forward to healthier, happier skin!
