Maya Water Facial Mists: A Breath of Fresh Air For Your Skin

IMG_8184-2

Haaaaappy Monday lovelies! It’s been awhile. Between prepping for marriage, the actual wedding, the honeymoon and getting back and settled into my new home with my new HUSBAND…things have been a bit hectic! But I’m here, aren’t I? :)

Today’s post is something I’ve really grown to appreciate and love. A facial mist! But not just any facial mist…Maya Water Facial Mist: a clean, mineral-rich and pH neutral thermal spa water mist from Skogshorn in Hemsedal, Norway. I mean…you had me at Norway! But in all seriousness, this unique, high-end facial mist truly does wonders to the skin. With added active antioxidants ranging from white tea, goji and acai. It revitalizes, protects and cleanses dry, tired skin. Who needs that? I do! Especially with my recent traveling to Paris for our honeymoon – an 8 hour flight there – my skin was parched. I sprayed a little of the White Tea Mist and I felt refreshed, dewy and even recharged!

Bali Botanic 100% Pure Organic Lavender Essential Oil

IMG_7657-3

Essential oils have always been my thing. Whether it be for a great nights sleep, to help me kick a cold, for purification purposes, to aches and pains. EO’s are the best! I’ve tried many different oils, but lavender is definitely one of my favourites. It’s funny because you think, “Oh all lavender oils are going to smell the same…” – wrong! I have totally noticed a difference in essential oils and their scent/potency through out different brands.

I’m A Choosy Chick

The Choosy Chick box I received

Would you just look at all these goods!? The Choosy Chick knows how to supply a girl with some great clean products! The Choosy Chick (TCC) is committed to researching, sampling and selecting the finest non-toxic personal care products.  They’ve developed their very own standard (click to read more about that) for ingredients which has become the foundation for their product selections. What I love so much about TCC is that they are not only wonderful at what they do, but they are not fooled by natural sounding names, or natural looking packaging. They truly dig  deep to find products that meet their standard of organic and natural.  So, as a result of their ‘choosy’ nature, they offer the purest, most effective and unique products available right now. I just love that – getting to choose the products that fit right for you, and knowing that they’ve been hand-picked by some really smart, honest and organic-loving people!

The items seen in my box are:

All of these products have been used and absolutely loved! TCC really does pick the best products to be sold on their site – I am VERY impressed with the quality! The super cute packaging it came in doesn’t hurt either!

A few products I especially love are:

The Au Naturale Eye Pencil in ‘Coco’. It glides on SO smoothly (no tugging needed, hallelujah!) and the formulation is super gentle, so it won’t irritate my eyes. Win!  (Photo below of ‘Coco’ swatched on my arm.)

Josh Rosebrook’s Styling Cream. This. Stuff. Is. Awesome! It provides texture to my hair, with a nice medium hold (as it says) and smells AMAZING! Kind of like a lemon sorbet…YUM! I also love that this styling cream stimulates the cells in the hair follicle and feeds the scalp to keep your hair growing thick and beautiful. All of the benefits! Plus, it’s not stiff and washes easily from the hair. I can’t seem to get enough of it!

Check out this awesome song “Color” by New York songstress VÉRITÉ!

S.W. Basics FTW!

Processed with VSCOcam with a6 preset

As basic (ha) and simple as S.W. Basics is – these amazing products are anything but boring or just “the norm”. S.W. is driving it home with their few ingredients and all natural, organic, minimal mantra.

Simplicity is the essence of awesome

Who could argue with that? Sometimes all you want is a skincare/body care line that is simple and clean! S.W. Basics brings that to the table, without a doubt. Here are a few products I dig, what they do and more!

Hibiscus Mask: S.W. calls this their “Slumber party essential”. I think it’s one, because it’s a mask and that’s a staple for a classic girl slumber party. Two, it is a bright burgundy colour…so, that’s girly! (Right?)

Besides all the girly nonsense, this mask does work! With a complexion-smoothing blend of organic hibiscus, French green clay, and organic lavender – it is sure to have your skin singin’ the “ooh’s” and “ahh’s”!

Body Scrub“Dessert for your skin”, and maybe even for your mouth? But really, check out these ingredients! Mixed coarse organic demerara sugar and organic shredded coconut (for exfoliation) with some moisturizing organic coconut oil. That is DEFINITELY edible (I won’t lie, I tried some and dang…it’s TASTY), but I’m not saying you should eat it all and not salvage it for your body – because lemme tell you something, this scrub is so good that even the Huffington Post said it’d get you a boyfriend! That’s quite the statement!

Last but certainly not least, we have…

Exfoliant: This is pretty self-explanatory – well, all of these S.W. products are. But this one, well, as a (past) exfoliant despiser, this one RULES. No micro-bead or harsh, jagged exfoliants in this lil guy! S.W. says it’s “kitchen-cabinet awesomeness”, and I completely agree. This newly USDA-Certified Organic concoction is made up of organic oat and almond flours that are not too rough but not too soft, mineral-rich sea salt, and tah-dah: a simple, nourishing, super-effective exfoliant that leaves your skin baby-butt soft and even glowing! GLOWING. I love a good glow!

All-in-all, I’m super impressed with S.W. Basics successful attempt to create products that cater to a simple, clean and natural lifestyle. Nourishing and caring for your skin, whether you’re sensitive, oily, dry or whatever..these products are great at loving your body well! <3

Here’s a great song by The Morning Benders (also known as POP ETC) called “Cold War”! Enjoy!

Petit Vour Beauty Box

IMG_7213

Beauty Boxes have been all the rage lately, containing beauty samples and other skincare products (sometimes full sized) that make you look and feel beautiful, and – if you’re lucky – aren’t even released in stores yet! Not only are they great for the smaller sample sized products that won’t clog up your bathroom cabinets – but many of the subscriptions average out to less than 20 bucks a month, but still provide a value of twice that or more! That’s pretty great! The only downfall these boxes such as Ipsy, Birchbox and Glossybox (to name a few) have is, they don’t always contain products with the friendliest of ingredients. So, you can imagine my excitement when I found out you could get a beauty box that carried some safer, organic, cruelty-free and luxury (yes, luxury) vegan brands! It also has the cutest little French name! ;)

Petit Vour delivers monthly, wonderful little beauty products right to your doorstep. Inside your cute pink box, you’ll find four to five personalized beauty products for you to apply, blend, buff, lather, soak, and spray. These beauty samples are generously sized (and sometimes full-sized! Love that!), with enough product for you to figure out if it’s right for you. Thank goodness, cus Lord knows I am picky and always love trying samples before making a solid decision.

There are a few different options to choose from, one month, three months and six months. My pick and the best bang for your buck, is the one month at only $15. The $15 also includes free shipping and 20% of your order goes back to you! Pretty great deal, if you ask me!

What I Received In My Box:

  • Suntegrity’s “5 In 1” Natural Moisturizing Face Sunscreen – Tinted (sample size)
  • Lauren B’s Nail Couture nail polish (full sized)
  • Box Natural’s Luxe Towelettes (2 samples)
  • The Konjac Sponge Co’s French Pink Clay Facial Puff Sponge

I highly recommend signing up! It’s super easy and takes no time at all – plus, you can cancel at anytime! Head over to the Petit Vour website to get started!
