This company was not a stranger to me, as my sister Jordana had previously posted about them. She also uses them on a daily basis. With only great things to say, it got me a bit curious as to what was so special about these skincare products. I mean, yes, vegan, non-toxic…yes, natural…but there are a lot of those on the market nowadays, what truly makes OSEA stand apart from the rest? Well, this left me with only one option: testing them out for myself!
Hello lovelies! I have for you something a bit different today – it isn’t a review, however it is very relevant to the last review I did regarding Bali Botanic. Before I got into Essential Oils, I did a lot of research on them, figuring out what oils were best for your health/skin issues and more…of course that helped me out a bit, but there were (and still are) a lot of questions I had. As you know, we never stop learning and EO’s never cease to amaze me with their medicinal and therapeutic powers.
Essential oils are volatile liquids distilled from plants and organic matter like seeds, flowers, fruit, stems, bark, roots, and leaves. They can be used to heal and support your body’s emotional and physical well-being, typically entering the body in three ways. Application to the skin using a compress, a spray, a bath, or massage; they can be inhaled using a diffuser, dry evaporation, steam, or a spray; and they can be ingested either orally or by suppository. (Please take caution and note that the ingestion of essential oils is only recommended under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider.)
Essential oils have always been my thing. Whether it be for a great nights sleep, to help me kick a cold, for purification purposes, to aches and pains. EO’s are the best! I’ve tried many different oils, but lavender is definitely one of my favourites. It’s funny because you think, “Oh all lavender oils are going to smell the same…” – wrong! I have totally noticed a difference in essential oils and their scent/potency through out different brands.
I hope you’re as excited as I am today, to introduce to you some of my new obsessions in the skincare world! I know, I know..I say that a lot, right? “These are my all-time fave!”, “I can’t live without this!”, and “It’s my holy-grail!” – but it is possible to have a lot of specific favourites. :) These are no exception. They are truly exceptional products!
You’re wondering why? Well, for one, Good Medicine Beauty Labisa desert-born, small batch, organic skincare company. (I know, a mouth-full…but so amazing!) They refer to their products as “desert-born” because their skincare formulas are inspired by the types of plants that are able to thrive in harsh desert environments.
Good Medicine feature extracts of wildcrafted desert botanicals such as Larrea, Desert Sage and Juniper Berries. These plants grow in the wild where they are nurtured by sunlight and rain and are neither crossbred, chemically fertilized or even irrigated. They remain free of the harsh chemicals so prevalent in plant life today.
Super rad, right?
One of the first things I notice about skincare (besides their packaging) is their scent. Their products smell SO GOOD. They have a sort of warm, somewhat masculine, herbal scent. They really are created uniquely! Their ingredients stand out from any other skincare products I’ve come across.
A few of their common ingredients are:
Desert sage – Powerful antioxidant, rich in Vitamin CThe foliage of sagebrush is rich in Artimitin, a powerful disinfectant and antiseptic rich in Vitamin C. So rich in Vitamin C in fact, that except for rose hips, there is no greater source found anywhere in North America’s deserts.Sage’s antiseptic and disinfectant properties combine with the antioxidant power of Vitamin C to create a germ-free environment to reduce harmful ions and prevent free radical formation.
Juniper/berries – Reduces puffiness, purifies & smooths the skinThe berries of the Utah Juniper are best known for their antiseptic (elimination of micro-organisms), aromatic, diaphoretic, diuretic (increases cellular fluid exchange) and rubefacient (increased blood circulation) qualities. The combination of these amazing qualities removes unwanted waste and fluids from the underlying tissues when applied topically, reducing puffiness and smoothing lines and wrinkles.
Larrea – Brightens, strengthens & softens the skinLarrea (commonly known as Chaparral or Creosote) is antiviral, antibacterial, anti-fungal and anti-protozoan. It contains high levels of Nordihydroguaiaretic Acid (NDGA), a very powerful antioxidant. These potent properties eliminate acid-forming microbes that cling to the surface tissues, thus preserving the skin’s natural barrier. It guards against rough patches, lesions, red areas, age spots and inflammatory breakouts.
Now that you know what amazing ingredients are put in their products, and how truly unique Good Medicine Beauty Lab is, let’s take a look at the products sent to me!
Oh, this oil is sooo lovely! This indulgent oil blend is a deep cleaning, intensely hydrating, skin balancing dream. Good Medicine created this specific blend of oils to penetrate into the deepest layers of your skin to release dirt, makeup and pollutants that bind to your skins natural oils. With the perfect ability to balance any skin type (no matter if you are oily, dry or both), Rain will restore you natural skin tone, heal scaring and red spots, and make your complexion glow with perfect health. Oil washing is a beautiful thing….really, really beautiful.
Now, if you know me, you know that I love the beach. Love may even be an understatement! Sunshine, ocean breeze, salty, freckled skin, the feeling of sand between your toes. Speaking of which, ever notice how your skin feels silky smooth after a beach day? That glorious sand (that also can be a pain and get into every nook and cranny) is one of natures best exfoliants! I remember my mum telling me this when I was younger, and how most people know that sand is a great exfoliant, but few ever think to add it to their skincare regime. Well, you don’t have an excuse anymore – beach or no beach!
This beautiful head-to-toe mineral polish uses the ancient cleansing powers of wildharvested yucca root, naturally rich in saponins (natural surfactant and emulsifier) to melt away dead skin cells. Its gentle but effective exfoliation actions tightens and tones, while maintaining the skin’s delicate pH balance. Combined with tiny desert crystalized minerals, this vitamin-rich creamy compound reveals smooth, soft, enlivened skin without scratching or damaging cells.
This is my absolute favourite product (besides the eye cream, which I’ll get to) Good Medicine has created. This face cream is silky smooth, goes on like a dream (a little goes a lonnnng way!) and it plumps up my skin, making me look well-rested and glowy – without being oily!
It’s a nutrient-rich herbal cream that delivers a power boost of vitamins and minerals, free-radical fighting antioxidants and quickly restores your natural moisture barrier. Its ultra creamy texture and divine aroma quickly rejuvenates the senses while bringing balance and hydration. Anti-aging properties lift and clear the skin revealing a bright, soft and enlivened complexion.
Can a germicidal, soapless cleanser be breath-takingly beautiful. This one is! This a gentle non-soap germicidal cleaner that quickly softens and brightens the skin without altering its natural pH balance. It is pretty cool, if I do say so myself! Ashes burst and bubble as they deep clean the dirt, daily pollution and bacteria from your lovely skin. It won’t strip your skin of its natural oils or disrupt its delicate pH balance. This silky soft combination of potato, Vitamin C, 50 plus trace mineral salts, citric crystals, pearls, milk and sugar cane naturally purifies the skin, tightens pores, controls excess sebum and reduces acne and hormonal breakouts. It simply brightens and clarifies for clean, smooth skin.
TIP: Use it with your favorite shampoo to revitalize, heal and nourish your scalp.
This my second most favourite item that Good Medicinehas created. It does an amazing job hydrating, soothing, smoothing out fine lines and firming puffy eyes. As soon as I apply it I can feel it start to warm and tingle – which I love, cus it means it’s working! (Not to mention I see results!)
It quickly brightens and hydrates the delicate skin around your eyes by boosting the production of collagen and proteins. It’s packed with a healthy dose of vitamins, minerals, humectants, antioxidants and free radical scavengers. Starry Eyes repairs the skin’s natural defense system to guard against environmental stress. This intense therapy formula promotes blood circulation, cell reconstruction and deep hydration. If you use it daily, it will improve skin elasticity, appearance of fine lines, puffiness and lift dark circles. Your beautiful eyes will be smoother, brighter and refreshed – who doesn’t want that?!
Transform your skin in 1 minute! ONE MINUTE. You definitely have time for that! This wild desert honey mask is truly a miracle worker for dry, tired skin. Good Medicine wild desert tinture blends with age-defying essential oils, creating a hydraulic motion that quickly rebuilds moisture levels in the skin.
As Honey Bee purifies and restores balance to every skin type, it stops bacteria growth and acts as a mild alpha-hydroxyl acid to reveal a new layer of skin. This vitamin and mineral-rich formula clears and evens out skin tone, smooths fine lines, firms, hydrates and softens the delicate facial tissue restoring a healthy, youthful glow. Lovely!
Though these salts are disguised as a simple luxury to delight the senses, they are actually much more. While working to repair and rejuvenate sore tired muscles, and dull sallow skin, the pure essential oils and color activate the olfactory and neural systems to elevate mood and enliven visual imagery. A little more time spent in our Bath Salts is all it takes to increase mobility, lighten a heavy heart, alter a dismal perspective, and discover anew hidden parts of yourself. Ten short minutes is all it takes to loosen muscles and quiet the mind. Bath Salts leave the skin resilient, smooth and receptive.
How To Indulge: Sprinkle desired amount into a warm bath just before entering the water and watch as it bubbles and bursts around you, turning first into a frothy lather and then dissolving to a silky colored pool.
There you have it! I hope you enjoyed this (somewhat lengthy) review and now want to go out and buy all the Good Medicine Beauty Lab products! ;) Oh, and of course I have a special lil discount code for ya! 15% off anything in their store with the code “hullosam“! ENJOY! xo

Left – Disappear Concealer / Right – Circle\Delete Concealer
I like my concealers just like the next girl…I mean, you gotta hide those red/blueish circles sometimes, amirite ladies? Anyways, I have been on the hunt for an awesome organic, non-toxic under-eye concealer and just a regular all-over concealer. I’ve found it! Jane Iredale has done it again, a tried, tested and true brand that is respected by many and it contains great ingredients!
Jane’s Circle\Deleteis amazing you guys! I am shade #1 and this concealer completely neutralizes redness along with brightens up the face. Can’t you tell?
Circle\Delete on right under-eye. (Left under-eye without it)
I love it for little areas one my face that need brightening too! (Forehead, bridge of nose, etc.) I’m sure you’re wondering why there are two different shades in there. Well, it is an eye conditioner and concealer in one and there are two shades so that you can mix them together and achieve the correct colour for your under-eye area. Some women like to really brighten it up, some like to just hide and do a wee bit of brightening. This lets you achieve both! Which I love.
The concealer contains Moringa butter and avocado oil, both high in vitamins A, C, D and E. Here’s a lil glimpse into what these wonderful ingredients do.
Moringa Seed Oil: moisturizes and conditions skin, as well as provides antioxidant protection. Soothes and calms.
A matte, oil-free, opaque concealer that camouflages distractions such as acne, scars, tattoos, veins and port wine stains (not sure about this one, haha) and contains ingredients that may help to clear blemishes.
State-of-the-art liposome formula contains so much pigment that two layers will cover almost everything, including black tattoos.
Provides an opaque finish.
It’s key ingredients being:
Superoxide Dismutase: Protects.
Green Tea Leaf Extract: Calms. Protects. Provides bacterial protection.
Vitamin C: Helps to reverse UV damage. Protects.

Nice right? Yeah, they’re great. They stand by their mantra and are consistent with the products they present. Natural, non-toxic, high quality and just plain good for your skin/body. I wanted to highlight my three favourites at the moment and give you the low-down on why they’re so awesome! So, here we go!
Pink Clay Exfoliating Masque: As HB states, “This is a truly beautifying and skin softening mask. Great to use before a night out or anytime your skin needs some extra nourishing and TLC. There are no fillers in this mask, just skin softening totally natural botanicals and clay.”
To be completely honest, this mask was not my favourite at first. I didn’t feel like it was doing anything. I thought it was just a pretty pink mask that simply sat there and maybe just calmed and softened your skin a bit. NOPE. This mask is no joke one of my new favourites! The ingredients are amazing, and after a couple of uses, I noticed a lot of benefits! Smoother, brighter, clearer, calmer skin. Here’s a list of the ingredients that make up this wonderful mask:
French Pink Clay: Pink Clay is for cell renewal, skin rejuvenation, and improving elasticity. It is very good for mature skin, bust firming, broken capillaries, and puffy dark circles under the eyes. It is high in Iron Oxide and Silica and helps to regenerate connective tissues.
Rosehip Powder: Rosehip combines the traditional cosmetic use of Rosehip with a new application of Rosehip Seeds: exfoliation. Traditional use of Rosehip is mainly based on its sensorial properties, which convey an image both of delicacy and effectiveness. In the same way, Rosehip exfoliates the skin in a mild but efficient way, giving the skin a healthier and more radiant appearance.
Chamomile Flowers: Soothes skin rashes, minor burns, and sunburns. Used as a lotion or added in oil form to a cool bath, Chamomile may ease the itching of eczema and other rashes and reduces skin inflammation. It may also speed healing and prevent bacterial infection.
Full ingredient list: French Pink Clay, Rose Petals, Rosehip Powder, Chamomile Flowers
Sea Mist Hair Texturizing Spray: “Sea Mist Hair Spray is formulated with the same salinity as ocean saltwater. This spray is great for adding beachy texture and waves to hair naturally. The essential oils of coconut and vanilla give off an exotic aroma.”
Fortunately, HB has changed the scent of this hair spray to coconut + vanilla…which, yes please…sounds amazing! Anyway, I LOVE this texturizing sea salt spray! It’s like the Bumble + Bumble, or Kevin Murphy beachy waves spray…but formulated without all the alcohol, chemicals and toxic ingredients. It provides texture, a beautiful, light scent that lingers and it’s refreshing! You can also use this spritz for your body! It contains aloe water to hydrate your skin, and it’s also safe to use on your face. I just love all of its uses!
Aloe Vera: There are certain benefits of Aloe Vera that produce healthy hair. The gel obtained from a freshly-cut plant has antibacterial and anti-fungal properties that can be enjoyed when the gel is applied on the hair and scalp. It helps to clear itching, dry scalps, and brittle hair.
Vanilla Essential Oil: This oil has a relaxing and calming effect on the brain and the nerves that provides relief from anxiety, anger, and restlessness.
Full ingredient list: Purified Water, Aloe Vera Water, Dead Sea Salt, Coconut CO2, Natural Vanilla Oil, Lime Essential Oil, Leucidal
Lapis Facial Oil: I saved the best for last! THE BEST, everyone. I kid you not, this oil has been a lifesaver for any inflamed, red, problematic skin I’ve had.
"Lapis Lazuli, a favorite stone of ancient Eygpt, is known for its gorgeous deep blue color. Lapis Facial Oil is named for the precious blue oils it contains, including Blue Tansy and Blue Yarrow. These oils contain a component called Azulene which acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory and antibacterial that aids in reducing redness and clarifying the complexion. Formulated for combination, oily, and blemish-prone skin types or any skin in need of relief from inflammation."
The ingredients in this facial oil are unbelievable and truly one-of-a-kind:
German Blue Chamomile: A highly sought out oil in the skincare world, due to its anti-inflammatory soothing properties. Excellent for calming inflamed skin due to acne blemishes. Also, reduces redness and broken capillaries in any skin type prone to red irritated skin conditions. Blue Chamomile is also a natural antibacterial that works to prevent blemishes from forming in the first place. This oil is steam distilled and is naturally a beautiful shade of deep aqua with a high Azulene content. It is also an antioxidant protecting the skin from the oxidant effects of free radical and premature aging.
Blue Yarrow and Blue Tansy: High in Azulene content giving them a deep inky blue color naturally. Azulene is a powerful anti-inflammatory and antibacterial that aids in reducing redness and clarifying the complexion. Additionally, blue oils are excellent at balancing oily skin without drying.
Jojoba Oil: Has amazing moisturizing capabilities due to being so similar in structure to our skin’s own natural sebum; it is easily absorbed and also helps other oils to absorb more deeply into the skin. This oil is also ideal for combination/oily skin types because it will never clog pores.
Squalane: Our Squalane is derived from a vegetable source — olives to be specific. Vegetable-derived Squalane has excellent emollient properties and acts as a light protective barrier to keep moisture in the skin. It also protects the skin against hyperpigmentation and premature aging.
Jasmine Sambac Oil: Comes from the night blooming variety of Jasmine. It is a sweet and exquisite oil that has been used in skincare and perfumery for centuries with good reason — the scent is intoxicating and the oil itself works to increase the skin’s moisture content and increase its elasticity. Our Jasmine Sambac comes from the steam distillation of thousands of jasmine petals.
Full ingredient list: Blue Tansy, Blue Yarrow, German Blue Chamomile, Grapeseed Oil, Kukui Nut Oil, Colorless Jojoba Oil, Jasmine Sambac Oil, Bulgarian Rose Absolute, Squalane, Vitamin E Oil, Fractionated Coconut Oil
I mean, you can’t get any better than that. I use it every night, and sometimes during the day as a spot treatment – if needed! It is a skincare kit MUST.
When I first discovered Meow Meow Tweet, the first thing I thought was “HOW FREAKING AWESOME IS THIS COMPANY’S NAME!?!” but for real, though. Brilliant! Especially for a company that concocts all organic, vegan products with pure, natural and organic ingredients. Meow, meow indeed. I like a lot!
With more buzz than a bee, Meow Meow has been getting around with the press! Featured in popular magazines, renowned blogs, websites and more! So, I thought to myself, they MUST be doing something right.
Browsing their website was like eye-candy in itself! Bright, cheerful and colourful vibes all over the place! Suuuuper cute, simple, yet totally cool packaging. I couldn’t get enough! So, here I am..to tell YOU a few products I’m loving right now!
This little Mini-Travel Migrator Kit that you see above has been a Godsend! I was out of town last weekend and it made the trip with me. Lightweight, It’s perfect for traveling, for sticking in your purse (especially the deodorant and body oil) and they’re all the perfect little size!
I love all of the products, but some of my favourites would have to be the Face Toner, Body Oil and Deodorant Cream. Here’s a little rundown of what my faves do, and some of the ingredients in them:
This toner is great for a daily toning of the face for all skin types. Especially those with combination and blemish prone skin. This awesome toner can also be used as a makeup setter spray, aftershave (spray on to avoid ingrown hairs) and a scalp spray for dandruff. Gotta love a product that does more than just one thing!
Its ingredients are: hammamelis virginiana (wild harvested witch hazel) distillate, aqua (water), *rosa damascena (rose) hydrosol, *vegetable glycerin, *acetic acid (apple cider vinegar), *lavendula angustofolia (lavender), *pelargonium graveolens (geranium), *cymbopogon martini (palmarosa), *helichrysum italicum (immortelle) essential oils. (All the ingredients starred are certified organic)
This fresh and woody juniper berry scented oil combines with crisp peppermint and herbal rosemary to calm, tone and treat dry or weathered skin. I had no idea, but apparently it can also be used as a scalp treatment to promote hair growth and help with dandruff. Again, Meow Meow is killin’ it with the multiple/different ways of using their products! Getting more bang for your buck!
Okay. Deodorant. A tricky area for me…not only because my pits need to have a serious detox (read more on what that entails) but because I reaaaally love a great smelling armpit. That always proved a bit difficult for me when it came to natural, organic deodorants. But not anymore! This baking soda free deodorant cream made the switch to natural deodorant A LOT easier. If you have ever struggled with underarm sensitivity from baking soda, then this is definitely for you! Meow Meow has taken their well-loved classic deodorant cream and made a few modifications to create this new formula, perfect for those with sensitive skin and just as effective. It’s designed without baking soda and clay – what can cause sensitivities on some – this recipe uses dietary magnesium and arrowroot powder to help control moisture and odor. Interesting, right? Nourishing plant oils and butters soothe and condition the skin, and a really lovely blend of citrusy essential oils keeps you smelling so fresh and so clean-clean throughout the day! Two thumbs up!
Now, onto another important smelly (the good kind) topic! Natural perfumes. Oh boy..this can also be a doozy. Essential oils are essential (hehe) in this arena, as well as plant extracts and absolutes (they’re similar to essential oils).
Stilllifeis Meow Meow Tweet‘s line of natural perfumes. Pictured below is the Perfume Sample Set, in which there are 1/2 ml samples of the full line. Certified organic, and certified nose-pleasing! Here is the rundown of what they offer for scents:
Dreamtiger: Sweet, Fruity & Floral with a Woody Undertone with notes of Blood Orange, Ylang Ylang & Vetiver
Wild Heart:Floral, Brassy, & Fresh with notes of Rose, Geranium, Jasmine & Wood
Macondo: Grassy & Bold with a Tinge of Sweetness with notes of Wild Sage, Bergamot, Balsam & Fir
Green Cockatoo: Warm, Sweet and a Little Smokey with notes of Tobacco, Jasmine & Vanilla
Argonaut: Crisp, Bright & Herbaceously Floral with notes of Violet, Clary Sage & Patchouli
My two favourite scents would have to be Macondo and Green Cockatoo! It’s pretty conclusive of my personality and what I lean towards in the scent department. Candle-wise too!
