Hey everyone, and Happy Monday! I’m finally out of the woods with my nasty cold I had all weekend – ugh, it was rough! Especially since I never get sick. But, when I do, it’s like a ton of bricks at once! Anyways…now that it’s all passed, I wanted to start filling you in on fun little things that are happening in the life of hullosam! So, I’ve started this “What’s The Happs” series…where I’ll share my fun weekend trips, whatever exciting news I’ve got and more! We’ll see how it goes! ;)
Spring is in the aaaair and Gabriel Cosmetics is launching the Radiant Beauty collection in celebration of the warmer weather! (Well, per my official statement at least!) This collection includes gorgeous varieties of pink-toned 5-free nail polish (you know how much I love me some pink!), an eyeshadow palette with cool, calming tones, a matte finishing powder and a matte soft pink blush, then finishes off with a beautiful medium toned nude lipstick!
Being from Canada, and a mix of British, Irish and Italian, there wasn’t very much room for a nice glow – especially in the winter. I also inherited my British/Irish genes of pale skin, freckles and easily burnt skin (if not protected). **Thankfully, because of my Italian blood, I do tan better after a base/slight burn ha.** Anyways, what I’m trying to say is that I not only love the beach, but long for waves, sand and sunshine. I adore the freckly, beachy, sun-kissed glow it imparts! Sadly, it’s fall now and the beach days are over. (SOB) However, I just received this wonderful product from Prtty Peaushun (Pronounced “Pretty Potion”) and have been blown away by it!
I have a lot of love for Cocoon Apothecary! A Canadian (Ontario, my birth province, at that!) organic, nontoxic, eco-friendly skincare line. Based in Kitchner, Ontario, this company is redefining artisanal skincare. They embrace the power of nature to deliver a luxurious product without compromise, making skin and body care products that are as good for your skin as they are for the Earth.
All of Cocoon Apothecary’s products are:
- Made with certified organics
- Made in Canada
- Safe and non-toxic
- Vegan and cruelty-free
- Packaged in eco-friendly glass
One product I would love to highlight today is their Eyewaken Eye Cream. I received this cream, along with their Skin Care Starter Kit (pictured below) and have absolutely loved it! (All of the products, but this one really stood out to me.)
The Eyewaken Eye Cream is:
“100% plant-based revitalizing eye cream that moisturizes and soothes tired eyes. Blended with the cooling, astringent hydrosols (waters) of organic rose and corn flower to reduce puffiness and hydrate skin. Organic argan and grapeseed oils moisturize with high levels of vitamin E and antioxidants to combat fine lines and wrinkles. Organic sweet almond oil helps to lighten dark circles while firming organic cocoa butter protects this delicate area. A soothing formula that’s great for all skin types. Can be used both morning and night.”
This eye cream is incredibly moisturizing, as much as it is game changing for my under eyes. I have noticed a vast difference with my under-eye circles and how they’re not as dark, as well as the texture of my skin under my eyes being extremely supple, soft and smooth – all within a short period of time using this product. Something to celebrate, I’d say! I recommend this to anyone, any skin type – especially sensitive eyes! I was not able to use certain eye creams most of the time because they’d irritate my eyes, make them watery and red, or just itchy. This cream has no negative effects on my eyes, only great results come from this little bottle! :)

If you’re in the market for a really awesome cruelty-free, gluten-free, and toxic-free neutral palette with a pop of colour (a sizzling gold/yellow shade) – this Zuzu Luxe “Peep Show” Palette by Gabriel Cosmetics is totally for you! It’s been a go-to for me lately, as I love the deeper bronzy/chocolate colours! I love a great summery palette and this one definitely achieves that sun-kissed, summer-look!
I really enjoy mixing and matching the super blendable shadows. I apply it with a dry brush for soft day time eye look, or I use a damp brush for a more bold, intense look. It’s however you wish to do it – I personally like to mix the two techniques! The whole palette contains natural ingredients including Titanium Dioxide which functions as a natural sun block. So, you’re not only making your eyes stand out, but you’re protecting them too in the process. Win/win!
The Zuzu Luxe Peep Show Palette comes with 4 different eyeshadow shades. They are:
Peep Show Shadow Colors
Amber – Sizzling Gold
Toasted – Warm Brown/shimmer
Velvet – Deep Brown/shimmer
Nude – Neutral Ivory
Peep Show Powder Color
Translucent – sheer setting powder that leaves skin with a flawless finish (this stuff does some serious mattefying of the skin too, if you have any shine!)
Peep Show Blush Color
Bitten – neutral red for perfectly flushed cheeks (almost as if someone pinched you – in a good way!)
All in all, I highly recommend picking up one of these palettes, whether it be Peep Show, or one of their other palettes – Gabriel Cosmetics will not steer you the wrong way with their high quality, beautifully blendable and pigmented eye colours, blush and powder.

Thanks for reading! Have a wonderful Monday!! Xo
I am currently LOVING this new artist, Amber Bain. She goes by The Japanese House and this 19-year-old London-based singer is blowing me out of the water with her atmospheric 80’s-esque synths and warm, dream-pop sounds. They totally wash over you and make you feel like you’re standing in the middle of an ocean as waves crash in around you. Or, at least to me it does…check it out! ;)
Hello again, everyone! Hope you all have been having a wonderful January!
I can’t even begin expressing my excitement over this incredible film from Nutrition Stripped‘s first Supper Club. Sadly, I couldn’t attend…but watching this rad video, and the hard work and preparation my talented friends Mckel, Rhian and my darling sisters Jordana and Maggie, put into this night, makes me feel like I was there – AND SO PROUD!
“It was just how I had dreamed up my first Supper Club to look – cozy, welcoming, warm, and elegant yet simple. Seeing all 50 guests gathered around the table, enjoying their drinks and food, was just the best feeling. We were serenaded by the incredible duo, Elenowen (hosted by Cause A Scene Music). They just topped off the evening and made it feel so special.” -Mckel Hill (read more about the night, as well as view pictures here on Nutrition Stripped’s website!)
It looked like SUCH a beautiful night captured amazingly by my insanely gifted brother Jake of Jake Colletta Films! The colours, the vibrancy, the music, the friends, the fun and THE FOOD…unbelievable. To say I’m proud would be an understatement. Well done everyone! Can’t wait for the next one!
So, here it is: Nutrition Stripped Fall Supper Club Film filmed by Jake Colletta Films

BONUS!!! (Here’s the recipe I mentioned on my Instagram)
BOB’S RED MILL ALMOND MEAL CAKE! (Best ever…seriously!)
- 3/4 cup Butter, Unsalted (Make sure it’s room temp, or a bit melted!)
- 1 cup Sugar (I subbed agave nectar, and 2/3 cup!)
- 1-1/2 cups Almond Meal/Flour
- 1/2 cup Organic Coconut Flour
- 2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/4 tsp Sea Salt
- 4 Eggs
- 1/2 cup Milk (But I used a little over 1/2 a cup, and Coconut Milk)
- 1 tsp Vanilla
Cream together butter and agave until smooth. Add in eggs, one at a time, and beat until fully blended in. Add coconut milk and vanilla and mix until combined.
In a separate bowl, combine flours, salt and baking powder. Beat the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and beat until creamy. Spread into a greased 9×13-inch cake pan and bake at 350°F for 30 minutes. Serve with fresh fruit and whipped cream. I made a coconut whipped cream that you can find HERE!
Makes 18 slices of cake.
